Six Vintage-Inspired Animations on Critical Thinking | Information Technology Learn IT - Teach IT | Scoop.it
A field guide to the art and science of the solid argument.

Australian outfit Bridge 8, who have the admirable mission of devising “creative strategies for science and society,” and animator James Hutson have created six fantastic two-minute animations on various aspects of critical thinking, aimed at kids ages 8 to 10 but also designed to resonate with grown-ups.

Inspired by the animation style of the 1950s, most recognizably Saul Bass, the films are designed to promote a set of educational resources on critical thinking by TechNYou, an emerging technologies public information project funded by the Australian government.

How to Develop 5 Critical Thinking Types - Forbes | Information Technology Learn IT - Teach IT | Scoop.it

Great leaders think strategically. They can understand and appreciate the current state as well as see possibilities.

- Critical thinking is the mental process of objectively analyzing a situation by gathering information from all possible sources, and then evaluating both the tangible and intangible aspects, as well as the implications of any course of action.

- Implementation thinking is the ability to organize ideas and plans in a way that they will be effectively carried out.

- Conceptual thinking consists of the ability to find connections or patterns between abstract ideas and then piece them together to form a complete picture.

- Innovative thinking involves generating new ideas or new ways of approaching things to create possibilities and opportunities.

- Intuitive thinking is the ability to take what you may sense or perceive to be true and, without knowledge or evidence, appropriately factor it in to the final decision.

Teaching kids to be ‘digital citizens’ (not just ‘digital natives’)

Teaching kids to be ‘digital citizens’ (not just ‘digital natives’) | Information Technology Learn IT - Teach IT | Scoop.it
Technology is not value-free. John Merrow explains how to turn kids — who are digital natives — into good digital citizens.

Schools today must provide opportunities for young people to create knowledge out of the swirling clouds of information that surround them 24/7. You went to school because that’s where the knowledge was stored. That was yesterday.

Think how different today’s world is. Today’s young people need guidance in sifting through the flood of information and turning it into knowledge.

They need to be able to formulate good questions — because computers have all the answers.
