"What happens when 24 high school students are brought together to articulate their ideas for what makes a good school? What if the students have never met or worked together before? What if there's a high-stakes culmination to their work -- like presenting their ideas to education leaders from across the country?"

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Awesome Poster on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Awesome Poster on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy | Information Services | Scoop.it

Med Kharback:

I just got this poster from a fellow teacher featuring the 6 thinking skills as outlined in the revised taxonomy. As you probably know, Blooms taxonomy that was first created in the 1950s has been revised by Krathwohl and there are two  main changes that appeared in this revised taxonomy: the first one is semantic in that nouns are now being replaced with verbs; and the second change relates to the order of these thinking skills. In the old taxonomy, Bloom highlighted the importance of evaluating and therefore placed it at the top of the  thinking continuum, but for Krathwohl Creating is the highest order thinking skill.

NMC Horizon Report > 2013 K-12 Education Edition | The New Media Consortium | Information Services | Scoop.it

The New Media Consortium, the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), with the support of HP, produced the NMC Horizon Report > 2013 K-12 Edition. This fifth edition in the annual K-12 series of the NMC Horizon Project examines emerging technologies for their potential impact on and use in teaching, learning, and creative inquiry within the environment of pre-college education. Six emerging technologies are identified across three adoption horizons over the next one to five years, as well as key trends and challenges expected to continue over the same period, giving educators, school administrators, and practitioners a valuable guide for strategic technology planning.

What Is Successful Technology Integration?

What Is Successful Technology Integration? | Information Services | Scoop.it

Before we can discuss how to shift our pedagogy or the role of the teacher in a classroom that is integrating technology, it is important to first define what "technology integration" actually means. Seamless integration is when students are not only using technology daily, but have access to a variety of tools that match the task at hand and provide them the opportunity to build a deeper understanding of content.

Reinventing School From the Ground Up For Inquiry Learning

Reinventing School From the Ground Up For Inquiry Learning | Information Services | Scoop.it
Can inquiry-based and project-based learning exist in a traditional industrial-age school? It may be time for schools to invent fresh ecosystems designed specifically for inquiry.

Via John Evans
Helen Rowling's insight:

Not regurgitation of old information but the development of new information, that is what is required for promoting sustainable growth....inquiry-based learning excites the researchers/learners/students and develops another part of the brain....involve students in real-life problems to encourage thinkers....I agree - a new way, new specifically designed tasks for inquiry.
