A Lancaster University student looks at the pros and cons of Wikipedia in the Guardian. Includes extracts from interviews with two Lancaster academics.

Elizabeth Hutchinson's comment, May 16, 2013 2:40 AM
I don't think anyone minds students starting with Wikipedia but as with any encyclopedia it should only be your starting point. Where are your research skills if that is all you look at? Likewise it would not be good enough if you chose just one academic source, a variety is needed.

''The '.org' websites are the ones that trick them most. Years ago we were taught that these were just organisations putting out information but if you look now lots of them show a particularly strong bias.''
John Evans's comment, November 4, 2012 12:08 PM
I've collected some more of these sites here: http://joevans.pbworks.com/w/page/12725920/Web%20Search%20and%20Verification
