Humility makes sense. Socrates knew that he was ignorant, and therefor was ready to learn. If I think that I already know a thing, or do not need to know a thing, then my mind is closed to it. All learning starts from a point of ignorance, and then move to greater approximations of understanding until mastery.
Srimayee Dam's comment, July 10, 2014 11:43 AM
Absolutely! Most are unable to do so, unwilling to learn .. Being ignorant is fine, but lack of humility won't ever help

Es evidente que sólo si crees que puedes aprender lo harás.

Education 3.0: Students as Connectors, Creators & Constructivists

Education 3.0: Students as Connectors, Creators & Constructivists | Information and Communication Technologies for Construction | Scoop.it

At the heart of this move to Education 3.0 is learner engagement, something that has been lacking in classroom learning thus far. Contrary to being a fault of any teacher, low-engagement is simply a byproduct of curriculum’s irrelevance to students’ immediate and future situations.

Ferramentas de Modelagem de Informações de Construção (BIM) são muitas, mas se você não executar reuniões de coordenação eficientes e produtivas, a equipe de projeto nunca vai perceber os benefícios de uma verdadeira coordenação BIM.

The first line says it all. The word accountable needs to be changed to responsible. The former is an external process; whereas the latter is one that includes schools as existing in the community. It is much like an ecological relationship.

In addition to opening doors and breaking down barriers in the learning environment,  eliminate the required ACT, SAT and GRE examinations. Those test are antiquated with the 21st century learners and the Institutions of Higher Education know it.

Ivon Prefontaine, PhD's curator insight, February 19, 2014 8:16 PM

I would be all for opening my classroom door and I did for many years. In fact, I rarely closed my door. It was only when I felt that administrators were looking in as an inspection process that I closed it.

The Rice Process's curator insight, February 20, 2014 8:14 AM

Transparency offers accountability and invites collaboration.  Transparency brings us closer to a participative model of shared responsibility. It's a good thing to promote!

It is interesting we thought we had to have stages of personal learning environments?

Nichelle Plivelic's comment, March 6, 2014 7:57 AM
There are three main stages to personalized learning, which involves the teacher figuring out how each student learns individually and establishing goals for the students. A teacher can change the physical layout if this helps(when working with children who are easily distracted, such as those with ADHD or autism, it's best to get rid of as many distractions as possible). The student will learn at their own pace in whatever way is the most effective.
