I don't think I'm being a Luddite when I say there is an important "Yes, but. . ." lurking at the edges of mobile technology, at least for now. Early childhood educators worry about fine motor skill development. I'm not even talking about cursive writing, an increasingly remote skill that I don't expect anyone to know how to do once my generation is gone. How important is it for students to have fundamental keyboarding skills, which means typing with more than their thumbs? How important is it for students to have an array of skills and capabilities that might not (yet) be possible on a tablet?

Interesting, in other ways this could also be seen as framing learning as a constant performance of assessment. Where do you draw the line ?
