After we released our 2013 Q2 Market Reports, we asked our panel of professional forecasters to provide predictions for housing market growth over the next 5 years. The latest Zillow Home Price Expectations Survey (ZHPES) was released on Aug. 8. The prediction for appreciation in 2013 is an average of 6.7 percent year-over-year — a significant jump from the 5.4 percent annual increase predicted the last time the survey was conducted.

Apparently ComScore does not track mobile or app traffic.  Also I just learned that they use a base of 2 million web users to do their survey - not actual traffic.

Total existing-home sales1, which are completed transactions that include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops, increased 6.5 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.39 million in July from a downwardly revised 5.06 million in June, and are 17.2 percent above the 4.60 million-unit pace in July 2012; sales have remained above year-ago levels for 25 months.

Over the past few years, numerous trademark infringement suits have been filed over keyword advertising.  Last month, the 10th Circuit weighed in on this subject, issuing a decision with broad implications.  In 1-800 Contacts, Inc. v. Lens.com, Inc. , the 10th Circuit held that the use of another’s trademark to generate sponsored advertisements does not constitute trademark infringement.

How much will home prices rise over 12 months? How about 3.9%? No, it's 6.7%.

 

Those are the findings of two opinion surveys released last week. Granted, they're not perfect apples-to-apples comparisons, so perhaps the best conclusion is that most everyone expects prices to continue to rise, but not as much as in the past year or so.

Illinois home sales surged 28.5 percent over previous-year levels in July and median prices increased 14.2 percent, according to the Illinois Association of REALTORS®, providing evidence of a strong summer housing market.

Statewide home sales (including single-family homes and condominiums) in July 2013 totaled 16,012 homes sold, up from 12,461 in July 2012. Illinois total home sales are the highest since August 2006.
