Gartner's 2013 Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies Maps Out Evolving Relationship Between Humans and Machines

Gartner's 2013 Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies Maps Out Evolving Relationship Between Humans and Machines | People Data, Infographics & Sweet Stats | Scoop.it

The evolving relationship between humans and machines is the key theme of Gartner, Inc.'s "Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies, 2013."

Gartner has chosen to feature the relationship between humans and machines due to the increased hype around smart machines, cognitive computing and the Internet of Things. Analysts believe that the relationship is being redefined through emerging technologies, narrowing the divide between humans and machines.

Gartner's 2013 Hype Cycle Special Report provides strategists and planners with an assessment of the maturity, business benefit and future direction of more than 2,000 technologies, grouped into 98 areas. New Hype Cycles this year include content and social analytics, embedded software and systems, consumer market research, open banking, banking operations innovation, and information and communication technology (ICT) in Africa.

Deb Nystrom, REVELN's insight:

Critics of the hype cycle say it isn't a cycle, that it is not scientific in nature, and that it does not reflect changes over time in the speed at which technology develops. Per wikipedia writers, they recommend technology readiness level illustrations and such, as a the hype cycle does not offer views of what actions would move technology to the next phase.

That said, it's intriguing to review.  I agree where things are with voice technology.  What do you think of the places & spaces of the tech listed?   ~  Deb

Car Sizes Through the Years

Car Sizes Through the Years | People Data, Infographics & Sweet Stats | Scoop.it

It has been a gradual change, however it is definitely there. Our cars have gotten bigger. Hondas, Porche, even Minis going to Maxi-Minis, and Fords, SUVs.

The infographic is focused on telling one story about the growing size of cars, and the design style is superb.  By using images and outlines of the actual cars, it tells the story much better than a bar chart would have

Deb Nystrom, REVELN's insight:

Hard to pass up a cool cars & historical piece on how sizes have changed, shared in such a compelling way.  ~ D

I just developed an infographic on my experience using easel.ly

A great way to illustrate one’s experience.
