It’s been years since community news sharing site Reddit has made a major change to how things appear on its coveted front page of popular submissions, but today the company announced a new feature called multireddits that could do just that. Reddit enables its users to submit links or self-authored posts to a variety of “subreddits” (aka a specific category). The multireddit feature enables you to combine several of those subreddits together, which can then be subscribed to on its own. It’s worth noting that the capability to create a multireddit has been around for a while (manually typing each subreddit’s name in the URL), but now the Reddit team is making it easier to share and browse through them. Previously, if you wanted this kind of functionality, you’d have to create another user account and subscribe to only the subreddits you wanted to collect or create a new folder of content on iOS app AlienBlue. “We’re working on making browsing reddit easier and more diverse,” Reddit developer Max Goodman (aka chromakode) wrote about the new feature. “The first step is giving you deeper control over what makes up your front page.” Read more at http://venturebeat.com/2013/05/14/reddit-multireddits-feature/#xBBEkbkF203DqWzh.99

From Dylan Tweney: Google Glass is one of the most polarizing user-interface inventions to come along in decades. We'll have a chance to see just how polarizing this week when thousands of developers crowd into the Moscone Center in San Francisco for Google I/O, the tech giant's sixth annual developer conference. Since Glass just started shipping to its earliest adopters, Google I/O will probably have the highest concentration of Google Glass wearers anywhere to date. That means we'll have plenty of opportunity to watch people struggle with its interface -- and to watch bystanders' reactions. Expect lots of photos of Glass-wearing nerds to pop up in your usual media streams. On the one hand, Google Glass users look like the Borg, creeping us out as they stare into a digital middle distance that no one else can see. It also raises troubling privacy implications, since it can be used to take photos and video almost surreptitiously. On the other hand, the device is undoubtedly a harbinger of technologies to come that are even more integrated into our bodies. The question now is: How do we make the most of this invention without making ourselves look like complete dorks?
Email has the potential to deliver a strong ROI for marketers, though the precise response rates depend on a number of factors including the subject line, type of offers and the time of day the email is sent. The best way of accurately finding the optimal time of day to send your emails is to run tests, taking into account fluctuations around pay day and annual events such as Christmas and bank holidays. According to the Econsultancy/Adestra Email Marketing Industry Census 2013 only half of businesses (49%) are currently testing the time and day of their email messages, so either the other 51% already know the optimum time or they're working off a hunch. So to give some food for thought on where to start looking and testing, here are six case studies and infographics that look at the best time and day of the week to send emails...

One of the most important things that you can do to drive repeat sales is to create an email list (at least according to this study). One of the huge advantages of email is that most businesses achieve about a 20% open rate on email and a .3% opt-out rate. Compare that to social media and email has a huge advantage, not to mention it is much more likely to be the last touch prior to sale. Email closes if you do it right. This is a great infographic on why email subscribers leave and why they stay. I would add one best practice: consider giving them something. Coupon, discount, widget – little drives people to act than a good incentive or a deal. Let me know your thoughts on this one!
According to Hubspot.com, companies who create, optimize and promote their blogs get 55% more traffic and 70% more leads than those who don’t.
