What Is Visualization?

What Is Visualization? | Infographic for project | Scoop.it

Does visualization have to be computer generated? Does data have to be involved, or can it be abstract? The answers vary depending on who you ask.

To me, visualization is a medium. It’s not just an analysis tool nor just a way to prove a point more clearly through data.

Visualization is like books. There are different writing styles and categories, there are textbooks and there are novels, and they communicate ideas in different ways for varied purposes. And just like authors who use words to communicate, there are rules that you should always follow and others that are guidelines that you can bend and break...

De très nombreux exemples d'infographies, malheureusement pas toujours aboutis. A croiser avec d'autres infographies ou représentations sur des sujets identiques ou bien à rapprocher des données sources.

[Infographic] SEO's Future Brighter then You Think

Our Internet has come a long way over the last decade.

Creating a website, blog, online community, or social media presence has never been easier. For marketers though, cutting through all this chatter to reach a target audience has never been more difficult. While some have predicted the death of SEO, in fact quality search engine optimization has is atop a list of concerns for marketers and CEOs. The bottom line for professionals in the industry being, ever bigger budgets to keep pace with rapidly changing SEO variables.

With the dwindling of major news print publications, and the rise in popularity of online media sources, a huge gap has been created in the way consumers are reached. Beautiful, Nonsensical Infographics by Chad Hagen

As any graphic designer surely knows, the Internet is home to at least as many bad (or non-) infographics as it is a source for clearly-articulated, visually-compelling ones. This twofold criteria is the subject of Chad Hagen's "Nonsensical Infographics": they're certainly a treat for the eye... but the mind, not so much. Rather, as the title of the series suggests, the vibrant geometries are intended to be metacommentary on the opacity of these purportedly digestible graphics.

From the artist:

The science of infographics is an interesting beast. Infographics' level of success is always based on how much and how well they communicate their data—the classic form follows function. In this series, I reversed these roles—form is king and dictates what the infographic communicates. Welcome to the world of fictional visual information.

How to Create Infographics in 30 Minutes or Less

From word clouds to network data visualizations, infographics have become a primary format for content in a relatively short period of time. Although the ‘infographic’ is nothing new, its proliferation and evolution has been nothing short of exponential in the past few years.

If you want to get a message across, whether it is for your business, blog, or book club, using an infographic can be the best way to do it. If you’re incapable of drawing a recognizable human stick figure, let alone an entire data visualization, you may be agonizing over the disturbing fact that infographics are all the rage.

It just so happens that there are many people out there who want to deliver a message using an infographic who do not have any artistic skills. It’s lucky for us that tools and resources have popped up all over the place to help even the most hopeless of us (like me) create beautiful infographics.

Visit the article link for instructions on how to do it in thirty minutes or less...
