iMovie trailers - A Fun & Easy Icebreaker! - teachingwithipad.org

iMovie trailers - A Fun & Easy Icebreaker! - teachingwithipad.org | Info for iPads | Scoop.it

"Here is a great ice breaker activity for you if you have a few iPads to use in your classroom.

You will need around one iPad per group of 2-6 students. Or, if you only have one iPad, create a trailer as a class.

iMovie trailers is a very fun and easy way to create awesome short videos. Your class will probably be able to finish within one to two hours."

Easy iPad Management for Education- At Scale!

Easy iPad Management for Education- At Scale! | Info for iPads | Scoop.it

iPad deployment includes all of the steps between buying an iPad and beginning to use the device. For an individual’s personal iPad, this is often a very fast and easy process lasting no longer than five minutes: You just open the box, turn it on, download the apps you want on your device, and go. But for a school, or district, with potentially hundreds of iPads–each one requiring a specialized list of apps that need to be purchased before protecting the devices with a case and sending them out to classrooms. As an administrator or teacher, there are a few things you will need to know before you deploy your iPads

This is truly a great tool in my estimation, but theory and reality also collide with technology. If you are not 1:1 then the potential of the app is not getting used in the best way that it can.

Theophilus's curator insight, March 19, 4:03 AM

What I like about this idea is the centrality of learning as opposed to the centrality of the device. We've discovered that sharing a device have far-reaching and positive possibilities for networking, interaction, teamwork and collaboration in the formal learning environment. OLPC is an example of a notion that goes the other way - individualism, not to mention, the complexities when trying to enable young learners to focus.

John Pearce's curator insight, July 30, 2013 11:19 PM

This is a great example of app-smashing in action which not only identifies a whole range of options to be creative but has already stimulated some thinking about how I can do things myself. Examples such as this also add weight to arguments for not restricting the possible apps that students might use to respond to tasks. Though such an approach has ramifications regarding control and instruction it also had huge possibilities in regard to differentiated curriculum or personalised learning especially if students can be expected to create similar movies describing the app-smashing process.

Tony Richards's comment, August 7, 2013 11:51 PM
