It lets you construct networks (mathematical graphs) with a few clicks on a virtual canvas or load networks of various formats (GraphML, GraphViz, Adjacency, Pajek, UCINET, etc). Also, SocNetV enables you to modify the social networks, analyse their social and mathematical properties and apply visualization layouts for relevant presentation.

Furthermore, random networks (Erdos-Renyi, Watts-Strogatz, ring lattice, etc) and known social network datasets (i.e. Padgett's Florentine families) can be easily recreated. SocNetV also offers a built-in web crawler, allowing you to automatically create networks from links found in a given initial URL.

The application computes basic graph properties, such as density, diameter, geodesics and distances (geodesic lengths), connectedness, eccentricity, etc. It also calculates advanced structural measures for social network analysis such as centrality and prestige indices (i.e. closeness centrality, betweeness centrality, information centrality, power centrality, proximity and rank prestige), triad census, cliques, clustering coefficient, etc.

Last week I spoke at Measurefest. The topic of my talk was, "Network mapping and visualising relative influence"

Using conversational data from influencer networks to inform and evaluate content strategy.

 

Use an author based query (not keyword based) to grab everything they’re saying (e.g. our primary @measurefest influencer list). Then without bias, we can see what topics are being discussed right now amongst this group. This can then be used to inform content planning decisions.

For the purposes of this test, I took the 50 accounts from the InfluencersinTravel.com list of independent travel influencers.
I then created a spreadsheet in Excel and imported the following data for all 50 people on the list:
- Klout Score
- PeerIndex Score
- Number of Tweets
- Number of Followers
- Number of people following
- Ratio of followers to following
- Number of Twitter lists

I then plotted the data for Klout and PeerIndex scores vs the various metrics and put a trendline on the data with a corresponding R^2 value. A value of 1.00 would be a perfect correlation...

The GLEAM Simulator system consists of the GLEAM Server and the GLEAMviz Client application.

 

The GLEAM Server uses GLEAM as the engine to perform the simulations. This server runs on high-performance computers managed by the GLEAM project.

 

The GLEAMviz Client is a desktop application through which users interact with the GLEAM Server. It provides a simple, intuitive and visual way to set up simulations, develop disease models, and evaluate simulation results using a variety of maps, charts and data analysis tools.

 

 

 Visualisation and analysis

 

GLEAMviz offers three types of visualization. The first shows the spread of the infection on a zoomable 2D map while charts show the number of new cases at various levels of detail.

Three tools to visualize personal networks

Data visualization techniques are enjoying ever greater popularity, notably thank to the recent boom of Big Data and our increased capacity to handle large datasets. Network data visualization techniques are no exception. in fact, appealing diagrams of social connections (sociograms) have been at the heart of the field of social network analysis since the 1930s, and have contributed a lot to its success. Today, all this is evolving at unprecedented pace.

In line with these tendencies, the research team of the project ANAMIA (a study of the networks and online sociability of persons with eating disorders, funded by the French ANR) of which I was one of the investigators, have developed new software tools for the visualization of personal network data, with different solutions for the three stages of data collection, analysis, and dissemination of results.

 

Specifically:

- ANAMIA EGOCENTER is a graphical version of a name generator, to be embedded in a computer-based survey to collect personal network data. It has turned out to be a user-friendly, highly effective interface for interacting and engaging with survey respondents;
