YouTube Music may slip to 2014, but what about Beats Music?

YouTube Music may slip to 2014, but what about Beats Music? | Word Of Mouth | Scoop.it

2013 has been a momentous year for digital music for all sorts of reasons, but as we enter its home straight, two of the most-anticipated new music services of the year haven’t yet launched – and look increasingly likely to slip to 2014.

Jonathan Magee's insight:

Youtube will provide two new services in 2014, YouTube Music  and Beats Music (which is a streaming service that allows users to tap into their camera roll to access personal media). Both services have been introduced to record labels behind the scenes to positive and even negative reactions and possibility that good things may come from this endeavor maybe not.

What's next? Beats Music or YouTube Music?

Dj Pusha's curator insight, December 4, 2013 12:53 PM

I like the idea is using since people already use youtube for a major source in music streaming. Them taking the spotify route is a good idea  because its bringing more access to one site instead of have to use 2 diffrent sites or apps almost like when instagram started doin videos  what do i need to use vine for now. Youtube doing this is a great step for them but might hurt other site such as spotify or pandora being that you can do everything from youtube once they launch this feature.

Records Are Dying? Not Here

Records Are Dying? Not Here | Word Of Mouth | Scoop.it

Buzzsaws were buzzing, hammers were hammering, and a sea of empty display racks awaited their wares one morning this week in a cavernous storefront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was a typical scene of retail construction in every way except for what was coming: a record store.

Via Pierre Priot
Jonathan Magee's insight:

Some people say that record stores may be going into extinction but in actuality it provides people to gather around and have a great time while discussing music and listening to their favorite tunes all at the same time. Amazon may provide the service of being able to purchase albums but it does not allow the social interaction that a record store provides.

Record stores will survive by building upon what Amazon will never provide: a cool place to hang out and share music.

Whoever developed this malware must have been extremely smart so to speak and it takes alot of technological work and brainpower to be able to do what the person(s) did.Nonetheless a solution to this problem will be found and will not spread to no other console or hardware.

Spotify to disclose analytics to convince artists they're not getting robbed.

Kevin Declan Sugimura's curator insight, February 16, 1:02 PM

Pro: Spotify are promoting artists and increasing their salaries as it pays out approximately 70% of its total revenues to music industry rightsholders.

Cons: Because of the growth of Spotify, so have its losses due to the pay outs that it has to pay the Labels/Artists and such.

Newtown school shooting 911 calls to be released Wednesday - CNN | Word Of Mouth | Scoop.it
Newsday
Newtown school shooting 911 calls to be released Wednesday
CNN
(CNN) -- Some audio recordings of 911 calls from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting will be released Wednesday afternoon.
Jonathan Magee's insight:

The audio recordings of 911 calls from Sandy Hook was released. The mass murder by one man Adam Lanza occured December 14th, 2012 and lasted for roughly about 11 minutes. After this massacre that occured within an elementary school of teachers and students the killer eventually killed himself. In which is the cheapest way out from facing his own actions because in my own opinion he knows he did wrong that may be the reason why he took his own life. As of today the lives of the lost students and teachers are still remembered while police and judges carefully review the police calls made that  horrific day to hopefully lead to a conclusion as to why the killer would stoop so low.
