New managing director, Rowan Crozier, said the business has ambitious plans to grow sales beyond £10m and create 20 new jobs by 2017.

Mr Crozier said: “We have had a number of new business wins which lay down the foundations for greater growth over the next three to five years. UK manufacturing is in demand at the moment and we’ve noticed companies not only reshoring work, but previously hard to enter international markets welcoming our capabilities.”

The United Auto Workers union says General Motors will move production of the next-generation Cadillac SRX crossover SUV from Mexico to Spring Hill, Tennessee.

It was unclear how many new jobs the move would create. The Spring Hill factory complex now employs about 1,600 hourly workers.

For 2014, the engineers were tasked with designing, building and racing an electric car. Now, the challenge is back and enthusiasm is already building with 25 schools (up from 18 this year) attending a presentation at KMF to announce the 2015 project.

“The KMF Young Engineer of the Year Awards have grown beyond all our expectations and we are proud of the fact that we are helping to provide what is an excellent opportunity for young people within our geographic area to get hands-on with engineering design and manufacture,” said Gareth Higgins, managing director, KMF.

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said the suppliers were “found to have frequently met bilaterally or multilaterally” and negotiated prices and implementing agreements over quoted prices in relation to orders for the Chinese market, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

Concours Mold Inc. is heading for a 50 percent increase in sales in Mexico this year after a $4 million upgrade of its plant in Huejotzingo, in the state of Puebla.

“We’re projecting sales of $12 million this year, compared with $8 million last year,” Leonardo Picazo, assistant general manager of subsidiary Concours Mold Mexicana SA de CV, told Plastics News August 25.

Plastics processing industry labels focus on energy efficiency

Plastics News reports that Germany-based trade group Euromap, which is the technical body for the sector, has designed the labels to clearly display how energy efficient the devices are.

Each product will be given a class, based upon how much power it consumes and how accommodating they are to the environment - and it's hoped businesses will find this information useful when it comes to the decision-making process involved in purchasing new equipment.

A German company is setting up a plastics chrome plating plant in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Bolta Werke GmbH said the facility will be its first in the United States for the Leinburg, Germany, firm.

Bolta first announced the project in September, when Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley said the new plant could employ more than 350 by 2016. Production is scheduled to begin in 2015.
