2015: A Fairytale of Risk in the Digital Age

2015: A Fairytale of Risk in the Digital Age | Induce digital | Scoop.it

Having recently seen the Disney movie "Into the Woods" (yes, I’m a sucker for good musicals), I couldn't stop myself from thinking about two of the key messages from the show: "Be careful what you wish for" and "Expect the unexpected". So instead of writing about the giddy forecasts of relentless progress out there, I am going to take a different tack, because I see this as the year that we recognize that "the woods" may be enticing, but they are also scary.

Christopher Sachse Aaris's insight:

Great post!

" Every top executive, not just the CDO, CMO, or CIO should know what their top 10 digital risks are and how they have chosen to manage them. The goal is not paranoia, but we do need to strike a prudent balance between pace and progress versus bureaucracy and paralysis."

What is 'digital' – and is it creating a new form of capitalism? | Induce digital | Scoop.it
Nearly every business is a digital business, but what does that really mean?
Christopher Sachse Aaris's insight:

"Digital matters to every sector of the economy, from financial services and retail to entertainment and utilities. A pork chop may be a pork chop, but buying it online, selecting your favourite retailer or even your preferred pig farmer, is a digital experience. Banks probably still have vaults. But the security of their online transactions, and the user-friendliness of their touch-free payment apps and self-managed accounts, are where their customers now really experience how good and secure they are."

Omnichannel Digital Transformation for Everyone | Intellyx

Omnichannel Digital Transformation for Everyone | Intellyx | Induce digital | Scoop.it

With the explosion of consumer technology options, digital transformation has upended retail more so than any other industry. From the retailer’s perspective, every device, every app, every digital interaction is an opportunity to communicate a brand, to present a value proposition, and most importantly, to drive home a sale.

Perhaps the most important lesson these retailers learned from the dot.com explosion of the 1990s is that the web was first and foremost a marketing channel – a way of connecting seller to buyer. With this realization, retailers now had the appropriate context for extending multichannel retail strategies. After all, catalog, call center, and in-store were familiar, tried-and-true retail channels, and the web simply added one more.

Christopher Sachse Aaris's insight:

Great post you need to read all the way through get to what never can be omitted when plotting your omnichannel strategy
