This is How You Geek Out on Cinematography

If you're going to geek out on cinematography, this is the way to do it.

In the first five minutes of this video, there's more wisdom about 4K than can easily be found on the entire rest of the internet.

What matters far more than spatial resolution are acquisition dynamic
range and display contrast (which is driven by black levels much more than brightness).

From there they go on to discuss everything from distibution to lighting to, of course, cameras.

Smart guys, good stuff.

iPhone 6 Plus Camera Review: Iceland

iPhone 6 Plus Camera Review: Iceland | Indie Filmmaking | Scoop.it

This year I had the opportunity to be at Apple’s Keynote where they
announced the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and the Watch. It was truly a sight to behold, as they unveiled each of these products in a their oh-so-Apple way (and the U2 concert was an amazing bonus!)

Every year, the new iPhone  is packed with new features across the board but for us photographers we really just want to know one thing: what does all this mean for my camera and how does it make my pictures better than before?

Jeremy Wilker's insight:

nice review and results. cool.

Day and Date Film Release Conversation

It is really great to see a festival get their industry panel videos online so quickly after the event. So few events do this in a timely manner and some never get around to editing and uploading their recordings. Toronto International Film Festival just wrapped and already their Youtube channel is populated with some of the great discussions had at this year’s industry conference. I have embedded this video discussion on day and date film releases that you can watch in its entirety (51 mins), but I will summarize the information if you are in a hurry. I’m going to add in a little commentary of my own, so if you want to pure version, watch the video.

Jeremy Wilker's insight:

great stuff, thanks Sheri!
