Building A Photo Booth Using A Gopro Camera, Some Led Lights And A Doorbell - DIY Photography | Indie Filmmaking | Scoop.it

Daring movies delight audiences, so we applaud filmmakers who do new things with the medium. Despite this, and despite how fanatically some of us study movies, many of the people most responsible for today’s filmic wonders are forgotten or overshadowed by a few famous figures. Let’s give a handful of these innovators their due.

These look really impressive. While output is low, they are extremely flat, less than half a centimeter in thickness, they are lightweight and they provide a smooth lighting surface (no annoying LED dots causing multi-shadows) and they provide a light clarity with a CRI value over 90.

interesting take on the LED light. decent specs.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Digital Deliverables (But Were Afraid to Ask)

Everything You Wanted to Know About Digital Deliverables (But Were Afraid to Ask) | Indie Filmmaking | Scoop.it
In this guest post from our friends at the Sundance Institute, here's what you need to know about delivering your film to festivals and digital platforms.
Jeremy Wilker's insight:

I particularly like this quote:

Beyond budgeting funds toward preparing deliverables, O'Neil said that you should set aside three months for the process. "It's not a month-long process. Even though your movie is made and is sitting there, it's going to make more money if you allot three months to the process," he said. "If you're trying to release your movie a month from today, I guarantee you're going to have a headache and hate your distribution partner."

yep. give yourself the time. it'll take longer than you think if you doing some of these deliverable yourself.

Getting Cheesy - Ben Allan shoots a mini-doc with a pre-production Sony FS7

Getting Cheesy - Ben Allan shoots a mini-doc with a pre-production Sony FS7 | Indie Filmmaking | Scoop.it
With only what’s in the FS7 box, you can be up and shooting handheld in minutes. The level of comfort and stability is as good as any Scarlet, C300 or F5 with a well thought out rig (but without the expense).

The FS7 is an exciting camera that fills a current void in the market and shows how much Sony are listening to their users.

Sony had the express aim of creating a documentary style camera the FS7, but it will also have much broader applications. The picture quality, range of shooting options and flexibility of operation is astounding at the price point.
Jeremy Wilker's insight:

gotta get my hands on this camera...

and a great subject choice: a passionate person who loves cheese.

Cameras Cameras Cameras

Cameras Cameras Cameras | Indie Filmmaking | Scoop.it
Between IBC and Photokina, the past couple of weeks have seen numerous
interesting camera announcements.

Panasonic LX100

Panasonic announced the LUMIX LX100. The name makes as much sense as camera
names ever can, as it's bigger and badder than the single-digit LX models
that were my point-and-shoots of choice for years. Some of my most-loved
photos were made with my LX1, LX2, and LX3. I have an eight-foot-wide print
from my LX2 hanging in my home. The LX100 is a MFT camera with a 10.9–34m
Jeremy Wilker's insight:

the sony FS7 definitely looks like the big winner here. although the Sony RX100 Mark II/III are stellar pocket point-and-shoot cameras that do RAW and HD video.
