This article explains some of the benefits of an artist's crazy actions. Although most people look at Miley as some type of slut trying to prove herself as a grown woman, the way she acts has had a positive impact on her income from music.

Bianca Brown's curator insight, October 13, 2013 1:57 PM

Taking on a new persona is hard to pull off but, can be worth it. The article used Miley Cyrus as a great example and also the aurthor realizes that she is not the only artist turning a new leaf. Britteny Spears and Madonna were moving to a different  light for their sells. It is the well organized and I understood his message since the beginning of the paragraph. I enjoyed the many other examples of the many artists.

Kyron McGruder's insight:

Kyron McGruder insight : This story in my opinion revolves around the competitiveness in the indie industry. Knowing you have one chance to shine and get you name in the spot light may feel like walking on eggshells. Steady trying yourbest to get that 30 of listening time from a major record label.

Kyron McGruder's insight:

Pro of being indepentant is that you can control every aspect of your career. all the hard work will pay off in full to everyone involved. total creative control goes to the artist. it could be possible to do signed under a label depending on the agreement in the contract. most rappers get the bad end of the stick by signing with a label in the long run.

Con more stressfull because you have to worry about bookings, radio play, collaborations, maintaining media sites, paying out of pocket, replying to fan mail, etc. vs signing with a label the artist can focus on the aspect that matters most; which is getting in the studio and making it happen

I like the information presented in this article and its link.

The pros of the article are really encouraging. They speak about the best ways to go about promoting yourself to others. I have to be  excited about whats going on in my life and show my happiness to rercieve feedback. I have to make others wanna support my every move.

The cons of this is that it could be a little expensive and time consuming. if your not dedicated, serious with a drive to put in the hard work you may as well pick up a new hobby.

Kyron McGruder's insight:

Pro its possible to put yourself out and get noticed but you have to set up your online presents. people need to be able to go find about you, they need a platform to go check out your music

Con if you dont have a your online presents set up, no matter how good your song is its a complete waste of time sending it to radiostations and other labels.
