You are my world - Mark Storey - YouTube

Mark Story suffers from PTSD but not from a bomb blast during a military conflict. He was a passenger in a car when a drunk driver came around a corner at a very high speed and collided into the car. Marks friends were killed and his broken bones and  brain injury changed his life.

Pacific Cove's insight:

Mark Storey is still recovering from a devastating brain injury that occurred over a decade ago. His injury turned his normal productive life  as a musician inside out and upside down. His dark journey of depression and despair has lead him to a new path of hope and passion.

Mark's new passion is to spread the message of recovery and to tackle the stigma of mental illness.  As a songwriter, you can feel Mark's passion in the music he has written.  His goal is to encourage others who are suffering and show them that it is possible to recovery from the darkest place.

Paperwork snafu delays military widows’ government benefits | Brooklyn Daily Eagle

Paperwork snafu delays military widows’ government benefits | Brooklyn Daily Eagle | Veterans | Scoop.it
Widows and widowers of military veterans all across the city are in danger of being denied survivor’s benefits by the US Department of Veterans Affairs because of a simple and fixable paperwork snafu, according to US Rep. Michael Grimm. The problem, according to Grimm, is that the Dept. of Veterans Affairs requires a death certificate to list the exact cause of death to ensure that the veteran died of a service-related illness or injury so that the surviving spouse can qualify for benefits.
Pacific Cove's insight:

“It took two, two-and-a-half years for them to get their benefits as widows. It sounds so simple, this snafu, but people are going without getting their benefits. This is money they need to live on,” he said. #Veterans #Benefits #Military

They're doing great things and especially after the Fort Hood coverage, which in large part was terrible, we've got to push back against these stereo types and hold the media accountable.
