Media Releases: Council of Education Ministers approves publication of Guidelines for Funding Inclusive Education

Media Releases: Council of Education Ministers approves publication of Guidelines for Funding Inclusive Education | Inclusive Education | Scoop.it
The Guidelines must be seen as a key procedure to ensure the transformation of the education system towards an inclusive education system in line with the prescripts of Education White Paper 6 on Special Needs Education: Building an Inclusive Education and Training System (2001).

Marie Schoeman's insight:
Resourcing Model for Inclusive Education: The challenge faced all along has been to reconfigure and radically transform the current funding system which directs all funding targeting the support needs of learners with special needs (including learners with disabilities) into segregated special schools. This funding model has left little or no funding to provide support in ordinary schools, thereby seriously impeding the expansion of Inclusive Education as envisaged in Education White Paper 6 (2001). CEM approved this set of guidelines for public comment.

Use data to build better schools

Use data to build better schools | Inclusive Education | Scoop.it
How can we measure what makes a school system work? Andreas Schleicher walks us through the PISA test, a global measurement that ranks countries against one another -- then uses that same data to help schools improve. Watch to find out where your country stacks up, and learn the single factor that makes some systems outperform others.
Marie Schoeman's insight:
You do not have to compromise excellence by striving towards equity. Countries that do well embrace diversity and believe that all learners can learn. Good teachers individualise teaching and apply differentiated pedagogy.
