KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Finance Ministers from seven member countries of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) are convening in the capital on Monday to finalize and adopt regional anti-poverty strategy for reducing poverty in the bloc.

The second BIMSTEC Ministerial on Poverty Alleviation will mainly discuss issues related to pro-poor and inclusive growth, social development, social safety nets, targeted programs, governance, climate change and disaster management. It will also endorse the Poverty Plan of Action (PPA), which will comprise regional strategies and cooperation for fighting poverty, said Deependra Bahadur Kshetry, vice-chairman of National Planning Commission.

The largest ever study of climate data from suppliers and their corporate customers, the CDP’s Global Supply Chain Report 2016, found that less than half of suppliers have set a target to reduce their emissions and only one third have lowered their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the past reporting year. What’s worse though, is that half of the suppliers that were asked for information failed to respond at all.
