Impact Investing Deals Start to Flow in Central America and the Caribbean | ImpactAlpha | Social Finance Matters (investing and business models for good) | Scoop.it
In 2014 and 2015, $1.3 billion was invested in Latin America with more than $400 million in Central America, mostly in microfinance institutions and agriculture. A deeper dive into nine investors and their 27 investments in the region shows that most non-microfinance investments were smaller than $250,000 (Costa Rica was an exception, with an average deal size of $2.4 million.) New study shows where carbon finance should—and shouldn't—drive conservation efforts | Social Finance Matters (investing and business models for good) | Scoop.it
The world's forests are crucial to slowing climate change, but they're often destroyed to make room for farms, mines, and other economic ventures. One possible solution to deforestation is carbon finance: giving companies and countries monetary incentives to reduce their climate change-causing carbon emissions from deforestation.
