Watch The Water Cycle In Adorable Pop-Up Box Stop Motion Animation | In-Bound Marketer & Business Unbound | Scoop.it
"Revolution" is a video by Chris Turner, Helen Friel, and Jess Deacon which shows us the old grade-school science diagram of the water cycle, but in a much more artistic way.
R.G. Riles's insight:

Wow, if the water cycle was taught like this in grade school, there might be more civil and environmental engineers today!  This new kind of short video with fun music and animation is really catching people's attention.  Marketers that are skilled enough to produce such videos now and then, will certainly be at an advantage in this short-attention-span marketplace.

How the bubble of Content Creation increases the value of Content Curation

How the bubble of Content Creation increases the value of Content Curation | In-Bound Marketer & Business Unbound | Scoop.it

"My 2013 prediction warned of the continued fall in the value of online content which would lead to the production of ever more content as media companies tried to maintain ad revenues.

You can think of it as a towering tsunami of content, or as a massive bubble of content inflation.

Just as inflation devalues currencies, content inflation is devaluing content."

Via Guillaume Decugis
R.G. Riles's insight:

Brilliant point on the decreasing value of content.  Curation value will increase, and those who have the best "channel" will be the winners... big brands had best pay attention to what their customers want to see/hear/read if they want social media and content marketing to keep working for them.

I think I do but I'm not sure of the connexion you make with content inflation/dilution?
Tagmotion's comment, March 3, 2013 10:59 PM
If we look at content inflation through the lens of making money, it's clear that in terms of monetization through advertising, the internet is the first medium in history where ad inventory grows exponentially every year. Broadcasters are only making real money from iconic TV programs that attract big audiences on the web, for which advertisers will pay a premium to reach. Curating iconic programs - so that relevant segments show up as search results - turns content inflation on its head. Now you have content that's tagged, curated & discoverable at a granular level. And that specificity translates to more highly-targeted advertising which, of course, commands a premium.

Are You Good At Multitasking? Maybe Not

Are You Good At Multitasking? Maybe Not | In-Bound Marketer & Business Unbound | Scoop.it

An alarming finding in the study is that people most likely to multitask are least equipped to handle it. “People who engage in multitasking often do so not because they have the ability, but because they are less able to block out distractions and focus on a singular task,” the report said. People often talk on a cell phone while driving because they are bored and seek the stimulation while driving.

The study concludes that cell phone use while driving “correlated significantly with sensation-seeking, indicating some people multitask because it is more stimulating, interesting and challenging, and less boring — even if it may hurt their overall performance,” the report said.

Via Steve Law
R.G. Riles's insight:

Whether a multi-tasking all-star, or multi-tasking challenged, note that even the most talented individuals need to put their full attention to the most important part of their to-do list.  This includes driving safely, but also includes those functions you perform on a daily basis which are difficult and, if not performed with your full, undivided attention, become a symbol of a sloppy brand.

Next week, I'm headed to Seattle for a couple of "Measuring the Networked Nonprofit" book events generously sponsored by Microsoft.
R.G. Riles's insight:

Certainly appears donors/foundations want data of progress. One great reason to use an inbound marketing system for your nonprofit, be it our system or one you devise for yourself, is that we do have metrics / measurables which are easily traked and explained.  So, at least your marketing efforts can be easily reported upon. We'll keep our eyes open and will continually share ways to help the nonprofit track actual progress for their program goals so we can continue to be a solid business partner and all around consultant for our wonderful customer-base!

How To SEO Optimise Your Social Media Profiles

How To SEO Optimise Your Social Media Profiles | In-Bound Marketer & Business Unbound | Scoop.it

"Mention the term SEO and what do you think of? Websites? Blogs, Google? They’re all correct, but what most people don’t consider is that it’s not limited to just sites.

Social media profiles and pages can be optimised as well. We put so much work into them that it’s easy to forget that there are many other little things that improve the chances of your page appearing in search engines.

While optimising your site is an important part of any SEO strategy, make sure you bring your social media pages into the mix as well.

Here’s a quick run-through of what each site can offer: http://www.simplyzesty.com/social-media/making-sure-your-social-media-pages-are-seo-optimised/

Via Antonino Militello
R.G. Riles's insight:

Our only addition to this little nugget of info is that social sharing is a place where your branding rules can easily be lost and go-astray. Make sure you are consistently posting content with your branding rules by your side, until they become second nature.  Fots, colors, upper-case, lower-case... it's all on the table and how will your followers know how to properly represent your brand if you do not?  If you don't have a 1 page cheat sheet for the different ways your brand can be mentioned and how you want those mentions to be constructed, you need to take a half hour to sit down and do this today.

Give your clients a lovely warm feeling inside – and keep them coming back – with these bridge-building tips

Via Mark Strozier
R.G. Riles's insight:

We really dig the visuals provided by Joe Todd Stanton. This is a common sense piece on regular business interactions. If you're B2B, it makes sense to brush up on these once in a while and make sure you're not taking shortcuts or skippng any of these keys to success.  One thing we would like to see added to this list is an additional, automated customer survey and referral portion - reducing that awkward groveling for a referral, and also allowing honest customer feedback, which dictates whether to offer an apology and promise to do better next time, or to simply ask for a brief positive statement right then and there, along with a referral, if the survey results are terrific (which they should be if you're doing the job right!).
