Is being a smart city enough? What about being a truly intelligent community? | In Geo Veritas | Scoop.it
Robert Bell lays out the case for intelligent communities--cities like Austin that go beyond the application of ICT for greater efficiency to using technology to improve education levels and train up their workforce for the knowledge-based digital...
João Pedro Bastos's insight:

"Smart" and "intelligent" are supposed to mean the same thing. When it comes to urban areas, however, the meanings diverge. They may be moving on parallel tracks but they are different trains headed to distinct destinations.

Olympic Legacy in East London: Displacement & Gentrification

Olympic Legacy in East London: Displacement & Gentrification | In Geo Veritas | Scoop.it
João Pedro Bastos's insight:

“Any reading of Olympic history reveals the true motives of each host city. Ruralidade é mito. Existe em 'resorts' e turismo rural - Portugal - DN | In Geo Veritas | Scoop.it
