Robohand: DARPA's bionic arm can be controlled by your brain

Robohand: DARPA's bionic arm can be controlled by your brain | Importance of the future. | Scoop.it
At a showcase in Washington, D.C. thrown by the high-tech whizzes at DARPA, breakthrough tech for space, ocean, robotics and ground war were showcased -- none more inspiring than an innovation for America’s vets who return home with upper limb loss.
My Widing's insight:

Robotics that replaces limbs and moves exactly like the human body part. Here is an other way of robotics being part of our human world. The hand showed in the picture will unfortunately not be able to crush metal- yet. Who knows what we will be able to master in the future.

2014: The Year of Robots at Apple, Google and Amazon - US News

2014: The Year of Robots at Apple, Google and Amazon - US News | Importance of the future. | Scoop.it
Google, Amazon and Apple each increase robotics spending.
My Widing's insight:

Robotics are emerging among us humans.
We all know robotics are a part of the future, we have always known. It is just about time, when will it happen? Some of us would say now. As three of our most successful companies started  investigating in developing robots  last year (2013). In my opinion is it inevitable, robots will play its part among humans in 10 years. I think it is good, although it scares me somehow. I feel we are in this state where everything new and innovative is exciting and helpful. This makes the human greedy and at the same time vulnerable. I hope I am wrong but I think at some point, we will loose control as we are urging for new and more efficient technology.

Just over 12 hours after Sony announced its own virtual reality initiative, Project Morpheus, Oculus VR has revealed its own Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 (DK2).

My Widing's insight:

This is a leap into the future. Game playing is a huge part of todays society and DK2 is taking it to a whole new level. This is  essential for the gaming culture to live on. I'm thinking this may even come in hand in science - building a virtual world from pictures of Venus and actually be able to walk around on its surface.

WATCH: Crazy Cloaking Device Shows What It Can Do

WATCH: Crazy Cloaking Device Shows What It Can Do | Importance of the future. | Scoop.it
Cloaking devices, a staple of science fiction (think Harry Potter), are getting closer to reality. Researchers at Duke University have built a structure that would hide anything under it from sonar — at least in air. Made of sheets of perfor...
My Widing's insight:

This is stunning! Might be an issue in the future if used wrong, but imagine the possibilities using a proper upgrade of this "invisibility cloak" . Innovative design is important for us to move to the next lever in technology.

Franco-American joint venture will magnify sunlight before it hits a photovoltaic panel, intensifying energy and saving rooftop space and land.

My Widing's insight:

The condition of our planet is crucial. If we want to have a future, especially involving technology,  we need to put focus on our environment. Yes, we already are but not to its fully. This article tell us about concentrated photovoltaics, (CPV). It is similar to Photovoltaic (PV) solar technology. Although CPV actually stores the energy from sun as fluid and can be utilized on demand, while PV convert sunlight into energy only at the present of the sun. CPV is slight more expensive than PV but it doesn't have to be. We have everything we need and I think that if we want to create something good for this planet, we can. Technology is moving forward, I believe this is something we might rely on in the future.
