Where is the best place to give your money? In late June at the Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy, Forbes sat down with Barry Sternlicht, founder of Starwood Capital Management, to ask him his philosophy.
...“We could build a charter school and affect 250 kids a class, 1,000 kids. But we are trying to figure out how to affect millions. So how do you fix public schools? How do you move teachers for excellence?” Though Sternlicht thinks on a large scale, his most touching story was about the individual lives affected by his gift to build a library at a public school in the Bronx.
