NEW 3D MOVIE TECHNOLOGY:ARE VIEWERS READY? Select theaters will present The Hobbit movie for the first time with a new 3D technology that displays images twice as fast as the current standard.The new display rate is sure to look different.

The premise of this discussion is that Peter Jackson producing the new Hobbit movie at a higher frame rate. 48 fps instead of the standard 24 fps. There are lots of pieces being written about why this is, how it relates to S3D, and if it is a good idea. 


That aside, I think it is exiting to see the S3D platform continue being pushed ahead by such a strong S3D movie advocate. As always, there are advocates and detractors, but we feel it is a good thing that the debate and the technology is moving forward.
