Roy Peter Clark:  '“Snow Fall” is many good things, but great storytelling is not one of them. I will argue that the innovative visual elements that brought it fame detract from the power of the narrative.'

more of a monologue than dialogue at first sight but maybe I've missed something about the interaction...still learning

Andrew Aker's curator insight, September 5, 2013 5:53 AM

awesome teaching and learning tool!

Melanie Faizer's curator insight, March 10, 9:57 PM

Zeega.com is a great example of storytelling through aggregating and curating, and in addition, embedded, automated attribution. It removes much of the burden of copyright. From a storytelling perspective, it has limitless possibilities, but one of the challenges is finding that story worth telling. Some Zeega examples are beautifully executed; too many are (from a journalistic perspective) one-dimensional in their execution and not thought-provoking. We are still new at curating content, and it shows. Curating is another form of narrating: the story still needs a point, a trajectory.

Free and easy tool for creating multimedia stories and presentations, and sharing them with anyone. Upload your photos, add audio, video or text and publish the story.

You can sign up with your Facebook account or your email.

Educators have an option to pay a membership fee ($4.99 /mo. or $50 /yr.) to create 50 student accounts which are protected from the public. Before you decide on this step, there is a 30-day free trial.

This looks like an awesome student storytelling platform.

Shanika Journey's curator insight, February 19, 2013 12:26 AM

Very interesting and a very simple tool for those who just want to tell stories, alone or with a group, by quickly adding pictures, video, and voiceover to narrate through the presentation. Looks like a pretty new site and it has both free and paid accounts.

Has great possibilities: would need to check out the educator costs

Giusto per fare un po' il punto... Soprattutto in Italia, a prescindere dall'etichetta, mi piacerebbe vedere buoni esempi.

Evolution....

Karen B Wehner's curator insight, April 29, 2:26 PM

Because epistemology is a time-honored pastime of transmedia folk. And cross-media folk. And multimedia folk....

Kevin Moloney:  "I’ve written elsewhere that we’re living through a Cambrian Explosion in the ecology of media. [...]  And with this explosion has come a diversity of terms to describe new creations and new arrangements. Multimedia? Crossmedia? Transmedia? What is the difference? I get that question a lot, and it’s a good one."

Mike Jones:  "Words come and go, in and out of fashion. And when the topics of discussion are screen-production, screen-media, technology and narrative, words can fall out of fashion very quickly."
