Phil Harris:  "In games themselves there is often more than one medium that the author has to consider. This is no longer just the written word but how this integrates with the rest of the function of gameplay; such as sound, visual style, art, design, direction and programming; not withstanding budget constraints."

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's curator insight, September 16, 2013 12:54 AM

Very interesting Article.

"But there is still resistance from filmmakers. Cage cited directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas who publicly stated it's impossible to tell a story that is controlled by a player. "It's interesting to see that maybe they're not fully aware of what this industry is really doing," he said. "Because actually we are making it, we are creating interactive storytelling."

Ce dessin illustre la notion d'"expérience utilisateur" !

OomphMediaGarage's curator insight, June 23, 2013 7:03 PM

Gaming is a great way to experience a story in a variety of ways, often choosing the story you would like to experience based on a set of given boundaries. Kind of like a choose your own adventure book, but typically with better graphics. that is not to say, however, that gaming replaces books, performance art, theatre, etc. Convergence isn't replacement.

Framed: putting context in the player's hands [A new approach to interactive storytelling] | immersive media | Scoop.it

Tracey Lien:  "In most video games, players are entrusted with performing actions: run, jump, shoot, swing, slash, crouch and curb-stomp. The developer sets the scene, establishes the context and the player is released into the world with an arsenal of actions. In Loveshack Entertainment's Framed, things work the other way around."

Hanson Zandi's curator insight, May 8, 2013 4:40 AM

With Graphic novels being vogue and interactive media sought after- this is a great game by Loveshack Entertainment. It puts the audience in control to craft the story.

Deanya Lattimore Schempp's curator insight, May 11, 2013 6:17 AM

Reminds me of Led Zeppelin's _In Through the Out Door_ interior album jackets.  I realized a few years ago that story arc is particular to the character's point of view, and should be talked about in that way, so this really adds a dimension to the analysis that could help students imagine stories from multiple perspectives.
