I agree with Vicky Hu's comment that setting company goals an objectives is likely the most important of steps because it defines the company itself and what they stand for. It defines the organizing Idea behind the company and it will set out the foundations for every product the company comes up with regarding design and the productions process as well as the marketing that the company will do for the product and for the brand itself.

I like your insight of how profit isn't a goal, but rather simply a result. Increasing awareness of a brand in a measurable manner is definitely an important aspect of marketing. Most businesses throw out the idea of measuring the market and tend to only push out information that does not engage consumers. Your articles take on a call-to-action hits home with the idea that you need to motivate your consumers to want to do something in turn, rather than read and move on.

This article gives an insight to setting goals and mesuring the success of the goal. As Rueben has said - it is important for your goals to be realistic as well as relate to your brand image. The article states that when setting goals you need to set a clear goal and objective, keep it simple, be different, focused and track your results. This is agreat way to keep the motivation in the goal.

Sam does a good job of reviewing the article and condensing its key points regarding what integrated marketing is and how businesses can best use it to reach their consumers while also mentioning the risks of not fully understanding the practice and how this can potentially backfire leaving the businesses consumers confused with the many different messages coming from the same source. These are all very important points and Sam's insight puts them in a slightly different light to the article.

Hey Sam, nice summary of the articles key points. The basics of this article is about when organisations start to focus on IMC, they should focus on the communication channels that makes the most sense to their target audiences. Like the article states, there is no practical point in advertising on every medium, unless you feel like wasting a vast amount of money. Also, IMC is most effective when a single strong unified message gets across your target audience. 'I'm lovin it.' In some cases the marketing message should be different, like when targeting a different culture or target group. Still, it's best not to "tinker" with message as much as possible for fear of alienating your customers.

Five ecommerce trends reshaping customer engagement

Five ecommerce trends reshaping customer engagement | Milestone 1 | Scoop.it
With the proliferation of customer touchpoints, brands must integrate marketing channels to provide better customer engagement, says Volker Wiewer.

Yujue Wang 1250401's insight:

With the fast developing technology, more and more people perform shopping online. This article point out the customer engagement is reshaped by five ecommerce trends: 1. Multi-channel touchpoints, 2. developed mobile strategy, 3. the increasing use of tablets, 4. speed-driven culture and 5. the use of cookies.

The development in technology may influence the broad environment of an industry, the ecommerce influencing the way customers purchase products and the way retailers making strategies to enhance their sales performance is one of the best examples. The new technology may increase consumers' attachment for a brand. For example, I download apps for my favourite brand and check it regularly to see if there are something new or special. However, I found that girls are more likely to download favourite brand apps or sign in a brand club than boys. On the other hand, there are some people still prefer on site shopping rather than online shopping. So it is also important to improve the quality of in-store service as well as online service.

Her insight is generally summary the topic and also gives an example of how new technology increase customer’s attachment of a brand. The technologic development is changing the way the customers purchasing as well as retails strategic planning about the sale performance. Because of the various customer engagement methods, customers can choose any type of these methods in order to keep an eye on what happened with their favorite brands or give some feedbacks about how they expect that the brands make a change. No matter customers make purchase on line or in the real store, I think make customers feel easy to contact with business is the core to get customers engaged with the business.

Hi Lycoris, thank you share the wonderful article, It can gain a full understanding of the Multi-channel market could improve the customer engagement. i'm very agree with you gave the example, more and more people very immersed themselves in diversified shopping. For example, "Pet.co.nz" this is a very famous pets store, at the beginning they only sell in-store product and most of people felt this is very convenience, therefore now they have Multi- channel could help customer choose all product and also provide promotion expense over $200 free deliver. at the same time, The company also held a C2C market it means all customer could share their own pets stories and feed experience to win the big prize. finally, this is good way to improve all the customer engagement.
Steven Chen's comment, August 14, 2013 10:04 AM
To Lycoris: I totally agree with you and this reading that more and more people are switching their purchase method to online and for most teenagers they might even pick online shopping as their first priority when they needed something instead of dropping by to their local store because that what I do too. Due to this fact I think retailers have to provide multiple channels to engage with their consumers, and this is when this 5 ecommerce trends come in to place. For example how businesses need to have a website that can adapt with cell phones so customers can use their phone to visit their web and also talking about cookies, how to protect customer’s privacy is important. From my point of view if the business wants to improve the amount of people shopping on their website, creating a broad platform is important but they also need to ensure the privacy and the security of their customers. If anything thing goes wrong and the news spread out then the company online trading is over. These five trends you talked about in your comment are definitely important to change customer engagement in to a different level.
