An interesting set of diagrams that show peak traffic on Twitter and Facebook. Very useful for businesses as they can adjust the timing of their posts to ensure they can be viewed at maximum traffic. Facebook also offer the ability to schedule posts - businesses can pre upload their posts and set them to go live/public at which ever time they want. A very useful tool to maximize marketing in Facebook.

Holly Knowles's insight:

While the logo of a brand can create lasting connections with consumers, it is also important to remember colour is a crucial part too. This is because elements like colour, shape, text can all  evoke certain emotional responses out of consumers which may be what is wanted towards a brand. It can also help to create brand familiarity across a global scale. however it is important to note, certain colours in certain cultures can mean different things so for an international company this would be something important to consider. However the infographic demonstrates a wide variety of brands that seem to have got it right!

Holly Knowles's insight:

with the revolution of social media and the use of hashtags, brands are now being seen jumping on the band wagon and using hashtags to their advantage to build the brand. This can be extremely useful in an IMC program if social media networks are used as it can build the brand around specific topics or see what people are saying.

Alysia Cole's curator insight, May 19, 2014 10:51 PM

This is an interesting article that provides 3 easy steps to building brands on social media with the use of hashtags.

As more people are joining social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter these are great ways for marketers to reach out to their target markets.

The use of hashtags allow people to easily follow and join conversations around specific topics. Hashtags also allow businesses to watch other competing brands and other industry leaders on social media.

William Creedy's curator insight, October 1, 2014 8:03 AM

Interesting that something as simple as a 'hashtag' can create brand awareness, or a brand image, not only companies utilize it but also organisations using social media.

Tyla McKenzie's curator insight, October 1, 2014 10:06 PM

Social media platforms such as twitter and instagram allow the use of hashtags. Hashtags are an easy way to use a single word to promote businesses and brands. For example, Remix Magazine recently through a party to celebrate their spring issue. As Spark was one of their main sponsors they created the hashtag '#RemixedBySpark' - not only a play on words, both Remix and Spark encourage party goers to use this hashtag on every picture they took. The hashtag connects all the pictures and when consumers use it they are promoting the brand through there own social media platforms. For someone with a lot of followers this is hugely influencing. Spark and Remix can also then go through the images, 'Like' and comment on them and interact with their consumers.

Product placement is also useful for marketers as people cant exercise zipping and zapping like they may through advertisements as they are exposed to the product embedded in the show.

This article stated that a single channel does not have a strong enough impact on consumers, and said that the combination of media is a touchpoint. The current trend is that consumers are spending more of their time online. Regardless of business size, companies need to build effective campaigns in order for consumers to experience better integrated marketing communications through various channels. The brand managers figure out how to maximise their message to consumers during marketing spending, and think about professional marketing strategies to help increase brand engagement through social media.

Siu TalauBrown's curator insight, May 12, 2014 9:11 PM

Social media is one of the biggest IMC chanells that could be discussed. Social media can be influenced by many ways. Personal, influence or general market place influence. the way social media has portrayed in this article has proven examples of market place influence as it discusses the issue of users online. The opinion leaders in this case would be with businesses as they discuss how many consumers spend most of their time online. As a result business' are learning to find ways of building effect campaigns that would catch the audience's attention.

Holly Knowles's insight:

This article I felt really stressed something I think that all advertisers still need to remember at the end of the day, we are all still human. While smartphone usage and social networks are increasing more and more each day and can be an important part in an IMC program to connect and communicate with consumers, it can almost be hard to remember we are all still human. This article stresses that the most effective communication strategies when using these platforms would be to apply the same principles that advertisers or marketers use to communicate brands naturally outside of these platforms.

three very important communication strategies surrounding context, persistence and forming experiences are said to be key principles that should be adopted when using technology to communicate brands.

Swati Tiwary's curator insight, October 2, 2013 7:12 AM

This article outlines the benefits of integrating facebook in the marketing strategy of most businesses. There are 1.15 billion people on facebook with 700 million daily users. This shows that facebook reaches a large number of people across the globe and has a good mass apeal. This can be used as a potential platform for businesses to market themseleves and their products. Many businesses already use this platform and statistics show that

1) There are 2 billion connections between local businesses and people

2) 70% active facebook users in the US are connected to atleast one local business

3) on an average week in the US there are more than 645 million views on local businesses and 13 million comments

4) 47% of americans say that facebook has a greater impact on their purchasing behaviour than any other social network website

5) 33% of millenium csutomers are more likely to buy from a company if they have a facebook page

6) 82% of people say that they trust a company more if their CEO is active on facebook

This shows that most businesses benefit from either having a facebook page and marketing their products on facebook through the page. It fills a gap between the consumer and the marketer and hence makes the company more approachable. Most A facebook page also allows the marketer to gain customer feedback as this is one of the most difficult things to obtain by any other method.

In fact many pubs and restaurants in Auckland advertise their events, specials and promotions through facebook which usually helps them bring the consumers right into their business. Hence its a good platform to promote their services and products

Holly Knowles's insight:

With the attention span of readers in decline, when it comes to a content marketing strategy it can be better to use visuals to convey a message or a combination with visuals. This infographic proves just how important visuals are and how they can be better at getting a message across rather than traditional text.

Harriet Smythe's curator insight, April 25, 2014 12:33 AM

I knew that pictures and visuals were important, but i didn't realise they were to this extent. It makes sense that people are less likely to read a large block of text - i know i wouldn't. I ignored the text at the top of the article and looked at the pretty picture first - this is something that evidently almost everyone would do. As 94% of content with visuals gets more views, and that people retain only 20% of what they read vs 80% they see and 10% they hear - these are some of the awesome facts that can be found within this article.

Beatriz Gorrez's curator insight, May 11, 2014 5:08 AM

I remember when I was a kid, I would always remember the books with the more pictures rather the one with just all words. Why? Simply because I remembered pictures better than words and with the pictures, I can retell the story. I believe the same goes for marketing products. Having more visuals than text appeals more to the public because they won't have to go through the hassle of reading a bunch of words all crammed into a certain space. "A picture is worth a thousand words" this indeed is true, with just a simple picture, brands can show the public what they are marketing. An image and a small amount of words is all an ad needs to get the image engraved into the publics mind.
