Kerry Chung's insight:

Direct Marketing is a very convenient marketing strategy, company can contact customers directly by email, mail or phone calls, but most of the time people feel that is annoying including me, because most of the advertisement came through my phone or mail, cant really have my attention, most of it go to my junk mail box directly, but many company like those advertisement, their save company money and is easy to contact customers in that way. Direct marketing can thus become successful only if the entanglements with the consumer are good. It can be B2B or B2C. It measures exact consumer response.

Setting objective is necessary for the company since it helps know the issues and weaknesses and the goals the business wants to achieve.
Kerry Chung's comment, August 22, 2013 8:43 AM
I think set objective, budget and a timetables is not only appropriate in marketing concept, if we do planning before we start doing something that we would like to do, will be more comfortable and easy for us to manage what we want and what is actually happening. It can be a schedule and also a risk evaluate for a business.
Jan Singhapan's comment, August 22, 2013 12:06 PM
from this articles, I learn that effective marketing plan for small businesses are as follows:
- have clear goals and objectives, define current marketing opportunity for your business and set goals for your research, be creative design your logo or package in a certain way.
-budget your plan, how much would you invest on marketing? put aside profits from last year sales for the following year marketing. if you launch a new product, be realistic with the numbers and figures.
-timetables, get accurate time that you think consumers will be purchasing your products, if your product can be sold seasonally then be prepared for it. You might need to hire more staff if the products are seasonal

Kerry Chung's comment, August 22, 2013 10:01 AM
Consumer engagement is brand interacting with consumers through of a variety of marketing initiatives, it is always so hard to find a balance between customers and company, consumer engagement is everywhere, is not easy to find out product or services provider providing something customers does not need or want.
Jan Singhapan's comment, August 22, 2013 10:49 AM
In this article, Bob(writer)'s experience demonstrates an overlap between human customer-service and automated customer-service. He was right that usually telecommunication coporate does not encourage non-marketers staff to contact customers first. However, e-mail templates that staff in customer-service department use are not usually created by marketers. How can a marketing department focuses on consumers engagement when they don't understand what customers want. This is a complicated situation and this makes it difficult to ensure the quality of each interaction with consumers. Companies are racing to implement technologies to allow their employees to interact directly with consumers. The marketers must have clear goals and objectives how they want customers to engage with their products and make decisions at the critical point on whether to improve their content or communication. A post-customer service may be a better way of gaging how much engagement the consumers have with products and services.

There’s a lot more to engaging in social media marketing than creating a few profiles and posting a few links. Without taking a measured approach to the situation, you’re not going to be able to make the most of what is a very powerful and influential strategy. There are thousands of other companies competing for social media users’ attention, so laying the right groundwork is crucial.

Sometimes I actually feel annoying to receive many advertisments from different companies by emails. I think there are many ways for the company to connect with customers such as promotions.
Jan Singhapan's comment, August 22, 2013 11:29 AM
This article refers to communication with consumers at the right time, right context and right chanel. It is common nowadays that people requires less time to go to the bank, pay bills and do their shopping and spend most of their times on mobiles and devices. Consumers nowadays like to access content marketing from anywhere when they want to or when they are free to. The marketers need to understand that most people don't like their inbox to be spammed so stop sending advertisement to work e-mails. To be able to communicate with consumers effectively, the marketers need to use the right chanel, use the right context and focus on the right information. One day there will be a better way for consumers to access these.
Kerry Chung's comment, August 22, 2013 8:42 PM
Communication is related to our everyday life, it is hard to get the right balance between consumers and businesses, and we receive advertisement every day, no matter through email or phone calls. It becomes a part of our daily life, sometimes I find it annoying, but when I want to buy something and that advertisement comes through my email that actually is very useful, so I can understand why companies try so hard to do advertisement to customers through different type of media sources.

Brand is a unique system that consumers associate to a company, product or service. Brand makes consumers chase after it and sometimes even go crazy about it. Branding is important to both company and consumers, company promises consumers on what needs to be delivered and consumers purchase brand because of its uniqueness.
Kerry Chung's comment, August 22, 2013 8:53 PM
A brand is not only a name; it includes many other type of things like services, quality and individualism. Sometimes you are not only pay for the product, you also paying for their design, quality and image. Why can some high end brands set an expensive prices and people are still willing to accept it and buy it, because that brand is helping you build up your own image to people and not only using that product.
