The Importance of Branding for Businesses

The Importance of Branding for Businesses | IMC Branding Idea | Scoop.it
Nandy Lihandra's insight:

This article gives a great explanation of the importance of branding. Branding is important as it sets you apart from your competitors and how you define your brand determines how customers will see you. In the article, it says "an effective brand marketing strategy minimizes your company’s chances of fading into the background and solidifies your reputation as a veritable force to be reckoned with." This is one great reason as to why branding is important. It shows people that you are serious about your business and people will then remember who you are. They also used examples of well-known companies - such as Coca Cola, McDonald's and Apple - who have been successful with their branding strategies. They all started off somewhere and as time went by and strategies were put in place to get their name out there, they have become big, well-known international companies. Branding is definitely important, as without it, these companies wouldn't be where and who they are today.

Jessie Shi: This is a good article for letting people understand what is branding and why it is important to companies. I think eye-catching design and a unique name are important for a brand, because people can remember this brand easily. This articles shows some success branding examples. I found that McDonald is interesting, they incorporated the word "Mac and Mc" into their product names, like "McNuggets" and famous "Big Mac". This makes people really easy to remember.

This is a great article on branding and its importance. I now have a better understanding about how branding works and what brand identity is. Branding is more than just a logo instead its the experience that consumers walk away with after working with the brand/company. There were great examples in this article such as Coca-cola, Macdonalds and Apple.

Branding is very important to a business or organisation as your brand is your identity and the way in which consumers identify or remember you. Creating an individual brand that represents you and your company is very important in the process to distinguish yourself or company from other competitors and to make yourself memorable.

How Engaging is your Brand's Communication?

How Engaging is your Brand's Communication? | IMC Branding Idea | Scoop.it
Engaging Brand Communication. We are all engaging, it's within our DNA to be interested and engaged by things. As brand communication has evolved, we too have evolved in the way we engage with bran...
Nandy Lihandra's insight:

I think this brief article gives a great idea on the importance of brand communication. The way brands are communicated to its customers throughout the years have evolved since over 50 years ago and with the constant update of technology, it enables brands to reach consumers on a whole new level that engages the consumers. Belch & Belch describes brand identity as "a combination of many factors, including the name, logo, symbols, design, packaging, and performance of a product of service as well as the image or type of associations that comes to mind when consumers think about a brand." Therefore, brand communication needs to stand out so that consumers are attracted to the medium and want to look/listen. Customers enjoy being reached out to on a level where they are able to engage and as consumers are the ones who make brands what they are, this is very important in terms of managing a brand.

This article though brief does make a valid point in how it is important to create a line of communication with customers and a brand. I like how they mention the evolving of concept throughout the years to show just how relevant it is to a brands success and how people can be in touch with the brand by using multiple vices.

To engage in branding we need to be able to communicate in today’s society and be able to trust the brand and connect with the audience.

This article highlights the importance of interacting with potential customers in a way that keeps them involved and part of the organization, rather than just a passive audience. It also mentions that although interacting with your customers as a marketer is highly important, it is also difficult and takes much design and thought. I enjoyed the article as i gets straight to point and provides me with something i can muse over.

What is Branding

What is branding? Well it's a lot more than a swell logo. It's being able to tell your pals a keen story about yourself and all your wacky hijinx, too.
Nandy Lihandra's insight:

This video gives a great explanation of what branding really means. A brand is not simply a logo, but it is the foundation of a company. Logos in the other hand, are the window dressing of a brand. It is how people identify a brand. It stresses the importance of businesses knowing who they are and what their purposes are as that is branding. They also used a great example comparing between the farmer and the doctor and how the two have distinct purposes to what they do. The purpose of the company is the thing that drives one's business.

I think the message that this video is trying to put across is that a brand is more than just a logo or identifier; it’s a symbol of what the company stands for. The narrator makes a valid point that "a brand defines the foundation of a company, it’s your core beliefs, your voice, it’s your company’s purpose in life”. He also says that “once a business knows it’s’ brand then all identity and marketing will be built upon that brand”. I think that is a very valid point and contributes to our understanding of how brands work.
