This article gives a great explanation of the importance of branding. Branding is important as it sets you apart from your competitors and how you define your brand determines how customers will see you. In the article, it says "an effective brand marketing strategy minimizes your company’s chances of fading into the background and solidifies your reputation as a veritable force to be reckoned with." This is one great reason as to why branding is important. It shows people that you are serious about your business and people will then remember who you are. They also used examples of well-known companies - such as Coca Cola, McDonald's and Apple - who have been successful with their branding strategies. They all started off somewhere and as time went by and strategies were put in place to get their name out there, they have become big, well-known international companies. Branding is definitely important, as without it, these companies wouldn't be where and who they are today.

Nandy Lihandra's insight:
I think this brief article gives a great idea on the importance of brand communication. The way brands are communicated to its customers throughout the years have evolved since over 50 years ago and with the constant update of technology, it enables brands to reach consumers on a whole new level that engages the consumers. Belch & Belch describes brand identity as "a combination of many factors, including the name, logo, symbols, design, packaging, and performance of a product of service as well as the image or type of associations that comes to mind when consumers think about a brand." Therefore, brand communication needs to stand out so that consumers are attracted to the medium and want to look/listen. Customers enjoy being reached out to on a level where they are able to engage and as consumers are the ones who make brands what they are, this is very important in terms of managing a brand.
What is branding? Well it's a lot more than a swell logo. It's being able to tell your pals a keen story about yourself and all your wacky hijinx, too.
Nandy Lihandra's insight:
This video gives a great explanation of what branding really means. A brand is not simply a logo, but it is the foundation of a company. Logos in the other hand, are the window dressing of a brand. It is how people identify a brand. It stresses the importance of businesses knowing who they are and what their purposes are as that is branding. They also used a great example comparing between the farmer and the doctor and how the two have distinct purposes to what they do. The purpose of the company is the thing that drives one's business.
