Education 3.0: Embracing Technology to 'Jump the Curve' | Innovation Insights |

Education 3.0: Embracing Technology to 'Jump the Curve' | Innovation Insights | | IKTak eta hezkuntza | Scoop.it

Education 3.0 is what I believe we can aspire to so as to educate our students, at all levels, in ways that actually promote 21st-century skills and prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow (aka, the jobs that don’t exist today but which will be required in the future). It’s the coming together of creativity, outcomes, critical thinking, big data, personalization, and much more.

For me, it’s really the confluence of three crucial education elements: Neuroscience, Cognitive (Learning) Psychology, and Education Technology.

And it’s that last point that we need to deal with effectively, if we want to get to Education 3.0. We have to learn how to embrace technology as the ultimate empowering agent, not as a competitor or loss-of-control agent. We have to start including social networking in our learning environments so as to connect students to peers, instructors, other subject matter experts, content, and more.

We need to start measuring more of the appropriate behaviors and elements of cognition to provide rich, meaningful learning analytics. (Note – this doesn’t mean measure what’s easiest or available, but what matters.

A robust education using technology tools will help students meet all of the standards which were written by the International Society for Technology in Education.  The use of iPads in the classroom is one way this can be achieved.

If you are a teacher wanting to increase the interaction with students while helping them to learn online you have to identify the right way to communicate with students. You may want to achieve this no matter if we are talking about actual MOOCs or a custom way you choose to disseminate materials in a digital format. So here are some helpful tools which you can implement to encourage interaction and enhance your teaching skills

What is Education 3.0

Education 3.0

This article has multiple issues. Please help improve it or discuss these issues on the talk page . Education 3.0 describes a level of transformative capabilities and practices for education in the 21st century. The work of Prof. James G.

Education 3.0 is a term that has been used to describe a level of transformative capabilities and practices for education in the 21st century.

Professor Derek Keats, of the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa,[1] and his co-author Jan Philipp Schmidt, FreeCourseWare Manager at University of the Western Cape, South Africa, used the term in 2007 to apply to the use and impact on education of collaborative and personalized learning, reusable learning content, and recognition of prior learning (RPL) whether by formal or informal means.

Keats' explorations were focused on higher education.[2] Dr. John Moravec at the University of Minnesota broadens this view, and describes Education 3.0 as a product necessary to support what he labels "Society 3.0" - a near future paradigm of social co-constructivism, ambient technology, and propelled by continuous innovation at all levels of society.[3]

Five ways that 21st and 20th Century Learning will differ

Five ways that 21st and 20th Century Learning will differ | IKTak eta hezkuntza | Scoop.it

How will teaching and learning in the early 21st century differ from its 20th century predecessor? Some shifts are already well underway. These include the growing embrace of open educational resources and of courses collaboratively designed and developed by teams including content area specialists, educational technologists, and instructional designers. Peer mentoring and grading are becoming more common, as is a gradual shift toward learner-centered pedagogies and competency-based, outcomes-oriented approaches.
