The Difference Between Technology Use And Technology Integration

The Difference Between Technology Use And Technology Integration | IKT och iPad i undervisningen | Scoop.it

"Using technology for learning makes sense. Technology creates access, transparency, and opportunity. Any smartphone or tablet is media incarnate–video, animation, eBooks, essays, blog posts, messages, music, games. The modalities of light, color, and sound all arranged just so to communicate a message or create an experience."

En utilisant les TIC, d'abord c'est un moyen pédagogique. Puis cela change la manière de donner cours, et on a alors intégré la technologie.

Easily Create Classroom Posters and Flyers Using Canva for iPad ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Easily Create Classroom Posters and Flyers Using Canva for iPad ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | IKT och iPad i undervisningen | Scoop.it
The popular web platform Canva has recently released a great free app for iPad users. For those of you who are not yet familiar with Canva, this is a web tool that allows you to create beautiful visuals, posters, and flyers. The simplicity of Canva is what makes it a viable tool for using in class with students. You do not need to be a graphic designer to use Canva. All you need is a computer or iPad and internet connection. Canva provides you with a variety of pre-made templates and layouts that you can choose from to create your poster. It also provides numerous images and illustrations to use on your layout.

The Best iPad Apps to Use with SAMR Model ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

The Best iPad Apps to Use with SAMR Model ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | IKT och iPad i undervisningen | Scoop.it

"SAMR model is a conceptual framework developed by  Dr. Ruben Puentedura to help you better integrate technology in your instruction. SAMR stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition. Each of these four levels correspond with a set of tech-based activities and learning tasks. The strength of SAMR model is that it provides teachers with a robust method to gauge and assess the efficacy of the technology they and their students use in class. Check out this section for more resources on  SAMR."

Research: How Video Production Affects Student Engagement

edX recently commissioned a study of nearly 1,000 videos, segmenting them out by by video type and production style, and discovered this among their other findings:

Shorter videos are more engaging. Engagement drops after 6 minutes.Videos with a more personal feeling are more effective than high-fidelity studio recordings.
Videos in which the instructor speaks quickly and with high enthusiasm are more engaging.Khan-style tablet drawings are more engaging than power point slides.

PhotoMath & Reactions To It From Around The Web - Larry Ferlazzo

PhotoMath & Reactions To It From Around The Web - Larry Ferlazzo | IKT och iPad i undervisningen | Scoop.it
You may have already heard about PhotoMath, the new iPhone app that lets you point it at a math problem on a textbook and then solves it while showing all the work involved.

Some are immediately reacting by citing it’s potential use in “cheating,” while others cheer that it might force math teachers and textbook publishers to be more creative in how they teach math. In some ways, it may force them to do what some of us in other subjects have been looking at — creating unGoogleable questions.

Here are some useful posts about the app, along with a video."

Chris Carter's comment, October 26, 8:31 PM
Yes, a friend texted me link to the site just yesterday. His take is that it works quite well, except that it struggles to pick up negative numbers if that number begins the math problem.
Melissa Marshall's comment, October 27, 3:43 AM
Good to know - thanks Chris.
Allan Shaw's curator insight, October 27, 5:40 PM

The promo looks slick. I suspect that it does not work quite that well based on some preliminary feedback. But even if it does work well, it seems it might achieve what  WolframAlpha can do without the typing.

It and similar technologies will sensibly provide Maths teachers with a good reason to reflect upon their practice. Good teaching cannot be replaced by a machine as it contains a positive relational component.

perhaps the reverse could be true: Any teacher who can be replaced by technology, probably should be replaced if they are no better than a machine.

3 iPad Apps You May Not Know About for Demonstrating Learning | IKT och iPad i undervisningen | Scoop.it
While there are so many iPad apps that deliver content, I think the one of
the best uses for technology in education is to make something with what
you're learning. This might include producing a video, authoring a digital
book, recording a puppet show, creating a college, narrating a slideshow,
designing a comic book, or somehow making your own media and study aids.

This is the second article I posted here on SAMR iPad apps in less than two weeks. Why? I love SAMR and I find it a very good pedagogical framework that teachers can draw on to not only integrate technology into their instruction but also assess the efficiency of this technology. And since iPad is a leitmotif in  today's learning, its alignment with SAMR model will definitely assist teachers in making the most of the educational potential of this versatile device. To this end , I am sharing with you this wonderful illustrative chart I stumbled upon on Apps in Education.
