The UDL 2.0 Guidelines can assist anyone who plans lessons/units of study or develops curricula (goals, methods, materials, and assessments) to reduce barriers, as well as optimize levels of challenge and support, to meet the needs of all learners from the start. They can also help educators identify the barriers found in existing curricula. You can use the UDL Guidelines to help you determine your learners strengths, interests, and challenges and how they:

> prefer or need to access and process information.

> prefer to express what they know.

> like to engage with the content.

When learners know how they prefer or need to access information, engage with the content, and express what they know and understand, then they take responsibility for their learning.

UDL Principles guide learners to understand how they learn best. They determine how they prefer or need to access information, engage with content, and express what they know.

UDL Resource - A New Website by Paul Hamilton

UDL Resource - A New Website by Paul Hamilton | iICT | Scoop.it

Paul Hamilton has created a new website that focuses on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). To quote his intro:

"This site hosts information about Universal Design for Learning, and shares free and low-cost digital tools
that facilitate a UDL approach to learning, as well as tools to support learners with access challenges."

You will find information on UDL, a section on access as well as sections on representation, expression and engagement (the cornerposts of UDL), and handouts.
This website is a work in progress, so be sure to return periodically to look for new ideas!

This is a really great page on UDL.  Paul puts this information together in a creative and very visually accessible way, which make it very easy to use and fun to explore.  Great suggestions about software and apps that can support UDL in teaching and learning.  Take a look!

UDL and Transition

UDL and Transition | iICT | Scoop.it

A father shares how the UDL lens helped in developing a transition plan for his daughter, Brooke. Discover how each UDL principle was used in developing that plan.  Here is just the first:

Principle 1: provide multiple means of representation

>> Connected Brooke with volunteer opportunities at a dog rescue and kennel to explore hands on what it means to be in a career working with animals, and used a guitar, youtube videos, and iPad apps for pianos, to explore her interest in music

>> Explored www.alife4me.org for community career ideas.

You won't want to miss this if you help with transitions.
