Technology has failed to transform our schools because the education governance system insulates them from the disruptions that technology creates in other organizations.

We need student focused instructional technology....A good read.

Victoria O'Connor's comment, May 9, 10:34 AM
"The best education technologies enable teachers to do more with fewer resources." "Teachers should use education technologies that are inexpensive, easy to use, and improve student learning." This is an excellent article. I particularly like the two points, above, that emphasize putting technology choices in the hands of teachers.

12 Ways To Integrate (Not Just Use) Technology In Education

12 Ways To Integrate (Not Just Use) Technology In Education | iGeneration - 21st Century Education | Scoop.it
If you run a classroom, school, district, or country, you need to know how to properly integrate technology in education. This should help.
Emily Brown's comment, April 30, 12:45 AM
Using technology can be random where as integrating technology give the technology a specific purpose to achieve a curriculum goal in the learning area.
Laura Dean's comment, April 30, 12:46 AM
It's not about 'having' the technology in the classroom but using it to enhance the learning experience.
Audrey's comment, May 2, 4:53 PM
Technology is good, however we must slow down and give both teachers and students time to absorb; there's no hurry.

5 Features Technology Must Have Before Classroom Use - Edudemic

5 Features Technology Must Have Before Classroom Use - Edudemic | iGeneration - 21st Century Education | Scoop.it
There are a few important criteria that education technology must satisfy before being used in education. Otherwise, we have a problem.
Jill Baker's curator insight, April 20, 2:19 PM

Great article about how teachers should not just give their students the tools of technology, rather they need to have an understanding of technology themselves in order to give their students the best opportunity to higher learning.

Audrey's comment, April 21, 2:59 PM
All educational institutions need to upgrade and update their technology. This should be assisted financially by the government. Rather than interfere in actual teaching the ministers should ensure that education technology is actually available and accessible. As teachers never stop learning it is within their interests to keep themselves updated with technology which can help them to spend less time continually updating and trying to differentiate lessons for 15 or more students daily, weekly.... Perhaps if teachers were more valued there would not be so many of them leaving the profession.

John Rudkin's curator insight, April 19, 2:55 AM

All learning technologies have a place, but "technology' - in the form of a solution, support and application device or system "decays" over time. It goes from technology to facility.....and falls from the innovation spot that breaks it into use. That said, drawing with a stick in mud, once a real innovation to led to early man being able to convey and communicate is still relevant in some situations. Mind you, saying that, I have to refrain from pointing these things out in case the current Education Secretary here in england decides to add it to the curriculum ;-)
