Pew study finds teens maintain, create friendships with technology

A group of teenagers are chilling in a basement on a Saturday evening, about to scarf down a pizza. But before the first slice is removed, a picture is snapped and uploaded to a variety of social media platforms. Because as everyone knows, nothing’s official if it isn’t on Facebook. Particularly friendships.
Khardiata's curator insight, September 22, 2015 1:22 PM

Nowadays, not using any type of social media makes you feel like you don't "belong", and changes your relationships. Hanging out with firends has a whole other aspect now, because we don't communicate together anymore but someone will tweet whatthe other person just said or someone else will snapchat the game that you are playing.

The Rising Cost of Not Going to College - PEW research

The Rising Cost of Not Going to College - PEW research | iGeneration - 21st Century Education (Pedagogy & Digital Innovation) | Scoop.it
For those who question the value of college in this era of soaring student debt and high unemployment, the attitudes and experiences of today’s young adults—members of the so-called Millennial generation—provide a compelling answer.
Jazmin Reyes's curator insight, February 19, 2014 3:41 PM

Reading the title of this article was enough for me to keep on reading. This article relates to me and to everyone else that are in college right now or are planning to go too college soon. Things aren't as they used to be were we can find a job without an education and still make a living for ourselves and our families. Jobs expect more and more as the years go on and clearly not going to college is a big affect. A college degree and a high school degree can make a difference in a certain job position we want. College is very important and it will continue to be like that as the years go on.

Kaitlyn's curator insight, October 27, 2021 10:10 AM

This article shares the findings of research that was done to see if it was worth it to get a college education. There were a lot of statistics and information that I didn't completely understand and it was a long article, but I was able to get a really huge understanding from this article, that people who go to college overall have more job satisfaction and earn more money than people who do not. When interviewed, the people who went to college say that even though they have student loans to pay back, it was still worth it to have jobs that make them happier and that their college education was already paying off or they expected it to in the future. That really helps me as I struggle to stress about the cost of college.
