Authentic Leaders are genuine, the real deal. They lead, they make good things happen. The real difference comes when we add the word “servant.” A servant is described as a “person working in the service of another.”

Very well said: "leadership is not found in grand gestures, but in those moments where we reveal what we care about."

As Scott Hagan said in his article: "People hear words, but they feel attitudes." You may try to couch your intentions and attitudes in grand leadership talk, but those who you want to lead will see through your gestures and words for who you really are.

It's amazing how difficult it is for people to use the phrases:"I don't know", "I need help", or "I was wrong".


But who would you rather work with or for...

1. Someone who, faced with a challenge they don't understand, pretends to know the answers (to give you confidence in their leadership)....or...

2. Someone who asks for your help when they  recognise they are in a situation that is beyond their level of competence?


Knowing (and admitting) when you're incompetent - perhaps the most important leadership competence!
