Why We Changed Our Model of the “8 Essential Elements of PBL” | Blog | Project Based Learning | BIE | Using technology in teaching & learning | Scoop.it
BIE’s Essential Project Design Elements contain two new items, both of which are familiar to those who know PBL. One is “authenticity,” which has to do with how real-world the project is. The other is “reflection,” which we have previously coupled with “revision” but now stands on its own; students should reflect on what they’re learning, how they’re learning, and what they have accomplished in a project.

In business and in international development circles, much is made about the potential for 'learning from best practice'. Considerations of the use of educational technologies offer no exception to this impulse. That said, 'best practice' in the education sector is often a rather elusive concept (at best! some informed observers would say it is actually dangerous). The term 'good practice' may be more useful, for in many (if not most) cases and places, learning from and adapting 'good' practices

"As more organizations turn to online instruction to train their employees and customers, more administrators and other leaders are finding themselves in the position of having to create a lot of content. These leaders must turn their presentations, lectures, on-the-job training and years of experience into self-contained lessons that not only contain a great deal of institutional knowledge, but also convey it effectively. This task may seem intimidating and overwhelming. There are, however, a few tips that can simplify the process."
