Conclusions

Augmented Reality has great potentials in education, more specifically in eLearning. It expands the definition and scope of augmented learning, which is brought into a next level. Augmented Reality can create a new era for situated learning by integrating itself with mobile learning and other concepts and technologies. With AR, there would be no need to define the learning contexts and environments, as the real-world circumstances we are grounded define them. A comprehensive one-suit-all learning materials would no longer be useful as each individuals can be the teacher and learner for themselves.

Don Olcott: New Pathways to Learning – OER and Non-formal Education

Don Olcott: New Pathways to Learning – OER and Non-formal Education | iEduc | Scoop.it

The growth of non-formal education is expanding teaching and learning pathways for the delivery of global education. This growth, in concert with the expanded use of Open Educational Resources (OERs), is creating a potential synergy between non-formal education and OERs to strengthen the continuum of education and training for people who live in underserved and economically disadvantaged regions of the world. The author’s central theme is that OERs provide a valuable educational resource for use in non-formal education that needs to be expanded, researched and refined. OERs are not formal or non-formal resources. Rather, it is how OERs are used in formal and non-formal education settings that define their context and application for teaching and learning.

I like the idea of enrichment and opportunity for all. This sounds like it will benefit everyone. We can all learn from one another. Some people who live in underserved and economically disadvangaged regions of the world have a lot to teach us about inner strength and perseverance. Also... think of the cultural awareness this will bring.

Shift Happens : Meme [videos]

The original "Shift Happens" video from Karl Fisch and Scott McLeod happened back in 2006.

It all started here .... http://thefischbowl.blogspot.com/2006/08/did-you-know.html

.. with a PowerPoint at
 http://www.lps.k12.co.us/schools/arapahoe/fisch/didyouknow/didyouknow.ppt

In this curation I've also included not just modifications and statistical updates to the original 2006 video but also have included derivations which also focus on future teaching and learning.

... especially the "Engage Me" series which is usually focussed on students presenting the statistics.

This collection used to live on a Blog at http://didyoureallyknow.posterous.com  until Posterous closed down on 30 April 2013
