Teachers Simple Guide to Teaching with Videos

Teachers Simple Guide to Teaching with Videos | iEduc | Scoop.it

There is a growing fissure between what education used to be in the 20th century and what it turns out to be in the 21st century. While what students learn has remained broadly the same but the ' how ' they learn it is changing rapidly as technology advances. There emerged a transformative kind of technology which not only reshape our perceptions about instruction and teaching but also created a new learning mode easily accessible to students.

10 Awesome Free Tools To Make Infographics

10 Awesome Free Tools To Make Infographics | iEduc | Scoop.it

Maybe you want create your own infographic, here 10 tools to support you to do it. [note mg]

Information graphics, visual representations of data known as infographics, keep the web going these days. Web users, with their diminishing attention spans, are inexorably drawn to these shiny, brightly coloured messages with small, relevant, clearly-displayed nuggets of information. They’re straight to the point, usually factually interesting and often give you a wake-up call as to what those statistics really mean.

Who can resist a colourful, thoughtful venn diagram anyway? In terms of blogging success, infographics are far more likely to be shared than your average blog post. This means more eyeballs on your important information, more people rallying for your cause, more backlinks and more visits to your blog. In short, a quality infographic done well could be what your blog needs right now.

A Printable Guide to Social Media [#Infographic]

A Printable Guide to Social Media [#Infographic] | iEduc | Scoop.it

Ask anyone to name the most popular social media tools used by students, and it’s a safe bet everybody could name the top two: Facebook and Twitter.

But those are far from the only online applications making inroads. As administrators warm to engaging students through social media, the list of potential resources at their disposal grows longer by the day.

Facebook and Twitter are the obvious choices. But there are other options- Tumblr, YouTube and Google+, to name three.

Of course, if naming the latest social media tools seems tough, learning how to use them all is harder still. In an attempt to shorten the learning curve, Flowtown and Column Five published this Social Media Cheat Sheet for your reference...

A great ICT tool to use during brain storms, collecting information, sorting information, understanding information, or explaining a concept. Visual and involved program that engages students in their learning.

Daniel Ramirez's curator insight, May 20, 2015 8:09 PM

This is a great ICT tool as it encourages students to do  brain storms, collecting information, sorting information, understanding information, or explaining a concept. All of these skills are developed as this ICT tool provides the opportunity for students to construct a mind map online! This is Visual and involved program that engages students in their learning and very simple to use.

The general capabilities are met on many levels as the program can be embedded into any learning area

ICT capability: appropriately to access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work collaboratively in all learning.

Critical and creative thinking: generate and evaluate knowledge, clarify concepts and ideas, seek possibilities, consider alternatives and solve problems

Creating Interactive Web-based Exercises in Hot Potatoes (TESL-EJ review)

Creating Interactive Web-based Exercises in Hot Potatoes (TESL-EJ review) | iEduc | Scoop.it

"Hot Potatoes is a great freeware program for language teachers to create or upload exercises on their personal websites, class group sites, or on the password-protected Hotpotatoes.net. Creating exercises for learners gives them space to repeatedly practise the target language. Students may also engage in the process of creating the exercises themselves, then sharing their work on a class group site for others to access. Previous studies point to the need for learners to be provided with opportunities for language input, making language salient, and focusing on form (Chapelle, 2001; Ellis, 2005). Having students create exercises may allow them to both learn the concepts and practise their language skills through the creation of the exercise (Erben, Ban, & Castaneda, 2009)."
