Voice Dream Writer app is truly an app that can level the playing field for a broad range of learners that struggle with writing. Check out the video on this site to discover why it is such a WOW! Here are the features of this new app:

Voice Dream Writer reads out loud using text-to-speech, so that awkward sentences, grammatical errors and typos can be easily spotted.

Writer helps finding the right words through phonetic search and meaning search.

Writer automatically keeps an outline of headings, paragraphs and sentences. The Outline helps writers better structure their writing with an always-on overview.

iPhone 6 Plus vs. iPhone 6: The Best $100 You'll Ever Spend - Teaching with iPad

iPhone 6 Plus vs. iPhone 6: The Best $100 You'll Ever Spend - Teaching with iPad | idevices for special needs | Scoop.it
This post is for those considering an iPhone upgrade. Those of you who currently have an iPhone 5 or older are probably due for an upgrade with your provider. If you have already purchased an iPhone 6, it is great phone and upgrade from Apple's previous models. Please let us know what you think after reading this!

My colleague and good friend Matt Przybylski (@iphysed) and I love discussing Apple products. He has had the iPhone 6 plus since day 1 (almost 3 months ago!). I have had it for just over three weeks. We wanted to take the opportunity to share why we think the 6 plus is the better phone. Upon some discussion between Matt and I, here are some reasons why, if you are debating which iPhone to get next, the iPhone 6 Plus should be the one you get.

The Best Teacher Tools for Taking Screenshots and Annotating Pictures ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

The Best Teacher Tools for Taking Screenshots and Annotating Pictures ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | idevices for special needs | Scoop.it
Creating tutorials and explanatory guides is best done through the help of screenshots. These are pictures we take of our screens to share with others or include in a visual demonstration of how, for example, a process works. As teachers and educators we often find ourselves in need of such visual annotations and cues to enhance our students comprehensibility. There are several web tools that we can use to create screenshots and we have already reviewed some of them in past publications here. Today, we are introducing you to what we consider to be the best 4 web tools for creating screenshots. Besides being free, these tools are very simple to use and are also student friendly. They will allow you to  capture your screen, crop and annotate your pictures using  arrows, colours, shapes, text and many more.

Easily create an eBook with these 3 powerful apps - Daily Genius | idevices for special needs | Scoop.it
Digital books are transforming the way students of all ages learn today. The interactive elements of digital books enhance the learning experience, making it far more informative and interesting than before. Many teachers today are embracing this new media and producing some high quality student-made eBooks in their classrooms.

One of the most fascinating ways to create an eBook is using a mobile device, particularly, an iPad. StoryKit, Book Writer, and Book Creator are 3 apps my students have used to create some highly interactive, professionally looking eBooks. All three apps are excellent examples of tools that allow students to unleash their creativity and tell their own stories.

How-to: Moving Audiobooks from your PC to your iPad or iPhone | PadGadget

I know there have got to be some people out there who are having trouble getting audiobooks they’ve downloaded on their computer onto their iPad (or iPhone). It is a fairly simple process, but Apple doesn’t make it completely clear. Even after you think you’ve properly downloaded one onto your device, you may have trouble finding it. Check out our tutorial on how to get your audiobooks onto your iPad and then where to find them once they are there.

iPad Photography ideas for Kids - The Book Chook | idevices for special needs | Scoop.it
Probably my favourite app on the iPad is the inbuilt camera. With it, children can readily take photographs and record videos of all sorts of things in home and school life. The iPad saves to the Camera Roll and from there, kids can email images, as well as open them inside other apps. The iPad camera or any digital camera is a wonderful tool for giving children a different perspective on life, and helping them think creatively about their environment.

Playing Outside iPad's Screen with Osmo - Learning in Hand with Tony Vincent | idevices for special needs | Scoop.it
Osmo was created by young parents and encourages social interaction by expanding interaction with games to the area in front of an iPad. It does this by providing a white stand and a red mirror that works with iPad and iPad mini. The reflector lets the front-facing camera recognize what is placed in front of iPad. Something to know is that iPad must be removed from any case in order to fit into the stand.
