The Unexpected Benefits of Rapid Prototyping

The Unexpected Benefits of Rapid Prototyping | Business Transformation: Ideas to Action | Scoop.it
Build business partners' confidence with intervention design.
David Ednie's insight:

The obvious benefit of rapid prototyping is getting early versions of your product into the hands of your target customers. Then refining and improving your product based on customer feedback and then repeating the process as required. The less obvious benefit and the primary benefit - I believe - is the impact on accelerating customer adoption of the final product. The rapid prototyping process creates "pre-early adopters" who are familiar with and love your product because they co-designed it with you. Leverage these early adopters/opinion leaders by "Tipping the Funnel". Get them to tell their families, friends and colleagues...

The broader benefits of Rapid Prototyping are:

1) Accelerating Time to Revenue

2) Reduction in Marketing spend: Awareness creation, advertising, demand generation, promotional incentives, trial offers, etc...

3. Think innovative - act conservative.

Your organization is less innovative than you are. That's why you have a game-changing role. Your effectiveness will be dependent on the internal support you can create among the non-innovators. That's why it's wise to be innovative and act conservative. Present your innovative breakthroughs not as something really extraordinary (and risky) but as the normal next thing to do. Your chances to convince the non-innovators will increase dramatically.
