John Dalziel's curator insight, August 23, 2013 3:56 PM

Storyboard provides a fun and creative way for learners to learn, and an innovative and fun way to visually communicate their work.

Many are visual learners, finding text heavy going and documents to be quite boring.

Creating a good storyboard is a collaborative process, and the more they share the better their outcome.

Tina Jameson's curator insight, August 29, 2013 6:50 PM

Useful innovative tool, which would be great for those students planning their 'Book Trailers'.

Starting at the beginning (of the year or thier school life) makes sense - then this becomes part of the dialogue right through their academic and working careers.

Maria Persson's comment, August 25, 2013 8:41 PM
If only we could be consistent right through their entire educational lives...it will happen!
Kimberly House's curator insight, September 4, 2013 3:43 PM

I like the idea of packing this into the first week of school. It needs to be followed up, of course. My bigger worry is how much to teachers and parents know about these topics? They need to be incorporated into the training as well.

Student Blogging Guidelines | always learning

Student Blogging Guidelines | always learning | Ideas for Info Tech | Scoop.it

Interestingly, the guidelines our grade 4 students created last year were just as applicable to middle (and high) school as they were for elementary. We ended up using almost all of the guidelines from last year, with just a few minor re-phrasing issues and consolidation.

"What are our kids doing now that they couldn't do before?" We think that this is really the main focus that we should attach to technology and what we need to implement in our schools.

Please... No More PowerPoint Title Slides!

Please... No More PowerPoint Title Slides! | Ideas for Info Tech | Scoop.it

Christopher Gurrie: In 2008, a colleague and I set out to make it our mission to rid this world of bad PowerPoint presentations. Remember the consequences: every time you make a bad PowerPoint presentation -- God (all of them) kills a kitten.

Even if we can only influence one student at a time -- hopefully we are doing our part to make presentation land just a little bit better for our fellow audience members. After all, we're only on this Earth for a short while -- it shouldn't be spent sitting through boring presentations where the presenter reads to us from slides laden with too many words and not enough practice...
