Social Media And Content Curation Management With This WordPress Plugin: Dashter

Giuseppe Mauriello: If you are searching a plugin to use for your WordPress site as your content hub to curate and create content, and to see full integration with Twitter, you will appreciate immediately the value in Dashter immediately.

It’s a WordPress plugin – so it installs and runs directly inside your administrative dashboard. Your website instantly transforms from a website to a powerful command center for your social media activities.

Dashter is a combination of several powerful social media tools in one. It helps you about:

1) LISTEN to real-time conversations and tweets on Twitter, with an ear towards listening for topics & conversations that are related to the content you post on your website. Filter out the noise and use Dashter’s listening tools to discover tweets that matter to you.

- You can control your entire Twitter account from within your WordPress dashboard;

- View trends in your social circles, use your content as a springboard for searches, and stay connected with your lists;

- Reply, ReTweet, Quote, Favorite, and all your favorite Twitter actions are available throughout your blog. Listen in on any search, list, or hashtag – or just explore.

- Unlimited listening posts in the stream.

http://dashter.com/tour/listen/

2) CURATE with Dashter with exclusive in-line content curation platform is the state-of-the-art in collecting, organizing, and creating fresh content on your site from existing tweets. And unlike 3rd party “curation” tools – the content originates from your website. Add context & build original articles in minutes.

- Every tweet you read inside Dashter includes a Curate option, so you can curate anything that inspires you.

- Curating tweets with Dashter lets you include Tweets in any post you designate. You can start a post and then seek out inspiring or relevant tweets to include, or you can find a tweet first and start a post from there. The choice is yours.

- When you curate a tweet using Dashter, not only is the tweet content pulled in to your post, but we also import the people who were included.

- Dashter will automatically import any #hashtags from the tweets you curate as WordPress tags.

- Curated Tweets can be embedded using our basic formatting, the Twitter Embed method, or using the popular Blackbird Pie plugin.

- Unlike other curation tools on the market, Dashter focuses on driving traffic back to your website.

3) CULTIVATE social relationships on Twitter with far greater depth and precision than ever before.

- Targeted interaction;

- You can truly custom-tune your engagement to everyone you care about. Build passionate and powerful communities around you and your website.

Curate and Organize Visual Collections: NotesCloud

Curate and Organize Visual Collections: NotesCloud | iCurate: | Scoop.it

Robin Good: NotesCloud is a new curation service which allows you to collect, organize, and share any type of content you have into beautiful magazine-like layouts.

“Imagine a tool that is always at hand when you stumble upon or dream up something interesting,”

NotesCloud uses the metaphor of a multi-section notebook to organize snippets and notes. People can create their own hierarchies of notebooks, sections, and pages as they curate their topics.

Unlike Pinterest or Evernote, NotesCloud’s structured storage metaphor encourages some organization, so it’s not just a “shoebox” full of random clippings."

(Source: Venturebeat)

Notescloud is equipped with a set of browser-based clipping tools for Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, that make it possible to easily grab and save any content you’re looking at online with just two clicks.

The content curated and organized with NotesCloud can be accessed from tablets and smartphones as well as desktop browsers.

Free to use.

Content Curation and How To Engage Your Audience: A Presentation by Shel Holtz

Useful presentation from Shel Holz that shows actual examples of curation for internal communications.

He talks about the stages of the process and demos various examples of how curation is being done by organizations from Ragan and Smart Brief to the NYT.

Shel notes areas where internal communicators could use curation -  for news about the company, competitors, the industry or the marketplace - and shows how AEP curates content on its intranet.

He quotes the head of  internal comms for AEP "The external news helps employees ot better understand the external forces that affect internal decisions. It's clear to me that our employees are much more informed as a result."

Another emerging trend is the ability for employees to share articles from the company , provided they do not contain proprietary information, via social media as a way of promoting the company.

Shel then turns to the use of curation in training - and shows an example of curated instructional video for a health care client. Another great idea!

Vital professions - how about finding an enthusiastic professional in the firm to curate useful professional info for the others?

Needless to say, there is a ton of useful, practical information in this presentation. It is an hour long ( including Q&A) but it's definitely worth it.

Hi Alison, Good informative video from Shel Holtz and an outstanding job of curation on this piece as well as the other articles in your collection. So happy I found you here, it's a pleasure to meet a fellow curator who is clearly demonstrating how to do this effectively.

Digital Overload And The Curation Crossroads

Digital Overload And The Curation Crossroads | iCurate: | Scoop.it
Do you participate online and do you see yourself as a curator?

We have all been given the freedom and the tools to become part of the information ecosystem.

There's only one problem with all this micro-publishing. We broke the web.

Today - and almost overnight - information has exploded.

We've flooded the web with uncontextualized content. With little more than a few random tags and some meta-data, the information ecosystem is flooded with voices, sources, rumors, facts, data, digits, images, and check-ins.

Steve Rosenbaum calls it Digital Overload, and it's an information epidemic sweeping the planet.

To separate signal from noise, there's an emerging class of information superheroes called Content Curators.

"Curators are both collectors and creators. Capturing the zeitgeist of the web, and knitting together images, text, links, and video along with their own original content to create a focused, contextually relevant editorial for an overloaded world."

In a world of too much undifferentiated data, people will pay to 'tune-in' to curators who have a finely calibrated filter.

People will pay for clarity, authority, context, and speed. So, how does the changing nature of the web change the need for curation?. It turns out - it speeds it up.

The rising tide of Digital Overload has created an over abundance of unfiltered content, and a growing need for curators to turn a noisy web into a infinite number of trusted verticals.

Digital Overload is both a problem and an opportunity. One thing is for certain,
The growth in digital content isn't going to slow down.

How we manage it - and who we trust to curate the information we need - is the next big question of the web.

Curate Your Favorite Songs with Sworly

Curate Your Favorite Songs with Sworly | iCurate: | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Sworly is Pinterest for audio tracks. If there is a music track on YouTube, Sworly will find it and let you pin it.

"Rather than encourage users to create interesting collections of images, Sworly brings the Pinterest approach to sharing music.

After logging in with Facebook (yes there’s annoyingly no other choice) you can start to add songs to Sworly if they haven’t already been added.

...At first glance, the ‘Add song’ feature is a little confusing, but it’s actually quite easy to use. Simply enter the artist name and song you want to share, and Sworly will automatically find the best video for you.

Add optional tags and a description and post it to your profile."

N.B.: There is currently no way to delete a song from your profile.

No collections or playlists (yet).

Curate Your Own Video Channels and Mixtapes With DragOnTape

Curate Your Own Video Channels and Mixtapes With DragOnTape | iCurate: | Scoop.it

Robin Good: DragOnTape is a great video curation tool designed for music fans who want to put together mixtapes to watch back on their mobiles, or that can be played at parties and events in a full-screen, back-to-back fashion.

DragOnTape which works both on the desktop and on your iPhone, allows you to easily search for any YouTube video / video mentioned on Twitter / Soundcloud clip and then to add it to your video-mixtape-collection.

You can drag and drop video clips on a timeline, move their order and position (albeit that's not always too easy), trim clips and make clips transition smoothly from one to the next with no breaks.

Obviously, just like I did in this test curated channel, you can bring any type of video content on any topic you like. These are 27 curated clips on content curation itself: http://www.dragontape.com/#!/4991003 ;

The playback interface is simply wonderful. Once you understand a few nuances it's impossible not to fall in love with it.

As I have said, the full compilation can be played back-to-back, while you have the option at all times to see the full playlist index and to jump to any clip you prefer.

Once completed your video mixtape can be easily published to the DragOnTape portal, as well as embedded into any web site or blog or shared with a direct link.

P.S.: While this is a great video curation platform that can be used for any topic, the spontaneous community of curators on DragOnTape has developed a spectacular trove of curated music mixtapes with some truly golden gems in there.

DragOnTape is free to use.

Excellent. 9/10

YouTube Auto-Curates In-Demand Topics with Auto-Generated Channels

YouTube Auto-Curates In-Demand Topics with Auto-Generated Channels | iCurate: | Scoop.it

Robin Good: YouTube auto-generated channels are channels that are automatically created by dedicated algorithms to collect trending and popular videos by topic.

"Auto generated channels act like user channels in that you can subscribe to them and stay updated on new videos.

In addition, auto generated channels provide:

-> The ability to subscribe and get regular updates about this topic on YouTube on your feed

-> A way to find other channels related to this topic

-> More context about this topic from Wikipedia or other sources

YouTube algorithmically determines the central topics in a video and then uses that information to develop great collections of videos for any topic of interest.

These channels do not convey any editorial opinion.
