Facebook, YouTube and even texting will be the salvation of many of the world's endangered languages, scientists believe. ---------- K. David Harrison (associate professor of linguistics at Swarthmore College and a National Geographic Fellow) explains that languages are the human knowledge base : everything human beings know is encoded in languages and cultures. Harrison also tells about his dictionary project : the starting point is... any language of the world ! These online dictionaries started about a decade ago. - - - - - An article / a 03'58" audio file (the interview) and... 126 comments !

"Make on-line posters and magazines and embed all sorts of media. I love this site. It allows you to make a sort of magazine style website but is very easy to use. You can build them for your students or they can make them either allow or collaboratively" And it's here >> http://www.glogster.com/ Delete the scoop?

"A concept map is a picture of our understanding of something. It is a diagram illustrating how sets of concepts are related. Concept maps are made up of webs of terms (nodes) related by verbs (links) to other terms (nodes). The purpose of a concept map is to represent (on a single visual plane) a person’s mental model of a concept. Concept maps provide a useful contrast with essays. With a concept map, a viewer can see both the forest and individual trees. The big picture is clear because all the ideas are presented on one surface. At the same time, it’s easy to see details and how they relate." Via Howard Rheingold

[...]" | Emmanuel Jaffelin, professeur de philosophie en Ile-de-France Delete the scoop?
