David Harrison (associate professor of linguistics at Swarthmore College and a National Geographic Fellow) explains that languages are the human knowledge base : everything human beings know is encoded in languages and cultures. Harrison also tells about his dictionary project : the starting point is... any language of the world ! These online dictionaries started about a decade ago.
