Word Booster

Word Booster | Ict4champions | Scoop.it

It gives you a list of words you are likely to look up in the dictionary as far as the given text is concerned, guesses a good dictionary definition for the words along with example sentences. And finally, it also makes a quiz for the words using both the definitions and example sentences. (Of course we give you the answer key too.)

This is a great free tool for creating word lists and vocabulary quizzes from online text. It works within minutes. A great time saver.

Byungin Kim's comment, July 22, 11:32 AM
Hello Nik! I am Andrew, the creator of Word Booster. Thanks for writing about us! We are holding a webinar on Sept. 8th of 2017 at 10:30 GMT, and you could hear the journey of how we have developed Word Booster. (https://forum.oxforddictionaries.com/api/discussion/78/webinar-word-booster-the-making-of-of-the-oxford-dictionaries-api-competition-winner#latest) We won the first prize at Oxford Dictionaries API Contest 2017.
Arizona State University, Claire McLaughlin's curator insight, July 22, 2:20 PM
If you are using higher level text for your ESL/EFL students to read, you might want to take a few minutes and check this site out.  It works with online articles, and by just copying and pasting the URL, in less than 60 seconds, you will have vocabulary words highlighted, a word list with definitions and a vocabulary quiz with an answer key.  I love that it did all of that work for me in less time than it took me to check my log in and check my email!

Millennials say they’re watching more videos and spending more time on social media, but they are not necessarily decreasing their attention to other media. However, a recent study states that younger internet users, the so-called Generation Z (ages 13 to 17), are moving away from text-based content online, as well as television, while increasing their time with video and social media.
