Battle of the Classrooms: Apple, Google, Microsoft Vie for K 12 Market (EdSurge News) | Digital learning | Scoop.it

In this webinar, we invite Nik Peachey, winner of the 2016 British Council ELTon award for innovation in teacher resources to talk about using digital video.

Using infographic creation tools in the classroom

Using infographic creation tools in the classroom | Digital learning | Scoop.it
The next time you need to evaluate what students have learned about a subject, ask them to create an infographic. When students take the information they have learned and compile it into a visual format, it demonstrates mastery of the content. Infographics stimulate visual learning. Encouraging students to create and share their infographics in the classroom takes their learning to the next level. Teachers need to provide students with infographic creation tools that provide students with a way to create infographics easily, to allow them to focus on the content rather than mastering a new technology.

When evaluating infographic tools teachers should look for tools that are easy to use but are also rich with functionality. These tools should also make it easy to print and share the infographics that students create. Infographic tools that allow students to compile their data into visually interesting charts and graphs are also a plus. Here are a few tools that we have evaluated that offer these important features.

Trois adresses pour faire des infographies en ligne.
Angélica Potes's curator insight, February 18, 8:42 AM
When we encourage students to create graphic organizers we are .taking into accout the different learning styles they have. In this case, they can explore and organize their ideas in an appealing way. Furthermore, creating infographics is excellent for understanding content because by using them, students can extract the main ideas from diverse topics.
Definitely, I will incorporate tools like this, for giving freedom to students' imagination and creativity.

What do you want to learn more about this year? Nanotechnology? Virtual reality? Bitcoin? How to protect democracy?

According to neuroscience professor Ken Kosik, adult education, or specifically engaging in challenging new learning experiences, encourages brain plasticity. And plasticity is associated with flexibility, innovation, and joy.

Equally as compelling, continued learning has been shown to protect your brain from developing diseases like Alzheimer's.

Finally, in today's charged political climate, it's worth noting that an educated populace has always been shown to withstand challenging times more effectively.

Here are a few ways to get educated this year, quickly and powerfully:

5 browser-based tools for creating Audio Recordings

5 browser-based tools for creating Audio Recordings | Digital learning | Scoop.it
Earlier this week I featured some tools for creating podcasts across on a variety of platforms. An audio recording doesn't have to go through the full-fledged production process of creating an a podcast in order for it to be a valuable activity for students. Creating short, unedited audio recordings is a good way for students to record and share their reflections on things that they have learned and observed in your classroom. The following five tools can all be used for creating and sharing short audio recordings.

Clyp.it is an easy-to-use audio recording tool available to use in your web browser. To record on Clyp.it you simply go to the website and click the big record button (you may have to allow pop-ups in your browser in order for Clyp.it to access your microphone). When you're done recording click the share button and you'll be taken to a page on which you can download your recording or grab an embed code to post the recording on a blog. In the video embedded below I provide a demonstration of how to use Clyp.it in your web browser. Clyp.it is also available to use as a free iOS app or as a free Android app.
