Teacher's Visual Library of 40+ iPad Apps ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Teacher's Visual Library of 40+ iPad Apps ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it

"I love it when I come across such educators curated lists of apps because I know since these apps are reviewed by fellow teachers then there is a high possibility that they will work for other teachers in different settings too.

For instance, the wonderful work embedded below and which has been created by the folks in St.Plunkett Oliver Primary School http://www.stoliverplunkett.qld.edu.au/Pages/default.aspx ; is a great library of apps that every teacher should have the chance to explore. It contains a set of useful apps pertaining to different categories. Most, if not all of these apps, have been already reviewed here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning before but it is much more practical to see them  compiled and organized all in one page."

A Teacher's BYOT Handbook: 10 Checklists For Creating Your Plan | TeachThought | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it

"A few weeks ago, we shared 11 sample BYOT policies http://bit.ly/19pF4WW to help you create your own.

Unlike some learning tools, BYOT resources have to be diverse because of the inherently flexible nature of BYOT. What works for one school or district may not for another.

Another challenge for educators looking for BYOT “stuff” is that what you’re finding is likely scattered all over the internet. Which makes the handbook of BYOT “stuff” that convergemag.com created (and grabonlee is hosting) all the more helpful. In it you’ll find 10 checklists for creating–or simply checking–your BYOT plan, covering the following topics."

The Paperless iPad Classroom with the Google Drive App

The Paperless iPad Classroom with the Google Drive App | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it

"Have you read The Paperless Classroom with Google Docs by Eric Curts? http://bit.ly/104vztx ; If not, you should. It is a great way for Google schools to harness the power of Google for sharing documents, and establishing a workflow for students to turn in work for teachers to grade and return in a paperless environment. I love it. In fact, I liked it so much that I decided to pay homage to it with a version that is dedicated to doing the very same thing on the iPad using just the Google Drive app.

Regular readers will have seen my last post, How to Use Comments on the Google Drive iPad app http://bit.ly/14koJzE . For me, this was a key change to the Google Drive iPad app, and one that had huge implications for the iPad classroom. It inspired me to think about just how much you can do in Google with an iPad and the Drive app, and I soon discovered that you can do a lot more than you might think.

So, with the blessing of Eric Curts himself, I sat down and went through all the steps he meticulously outlined for the desktop version of Google Drive, and converted as many as I could to the equivalent actions in the Google Drive iPad app. Then I added some additional steps for other things like taking documents offline, or grading PDFs, images and movies."

IPad Teaching and Learning

IPad Teaching and Learning | ICT Nieuws | Scoop.it

`Beginning in our next school year, we are very excited to implement iPads (iPad2 devices) as a tool for collaborative learning in our English and Media faculty. We believe that the technology can enhance our pedagogy, whilst engaging our students in the basics of reading, writing and speaking & listening. We believe that the devices can harness excitement and confidence in our students, unleashing greater creativity and raising literacy standards. By using Apple TV, we will use the devices as a tool for formative assessment, immediately streaming student responses, writing, annotation or presentations and films etc. We are not going for the 1-to-1 model, instead the device will be used as a collaborative tool in groups. A class set will effectively be 7 to 8 iPads.``

The Free Alternative
The interesting question is could you create a web marketing business with NO money for websites or blogs? Yes is the answer to that question. By using free tools such as Google Drive, Scoop.it and Blogger or WordPress you could create a business without paying anything to web development.

You might find that business is limited in scale, but so what. Your cost is  limited to your sweat equity to create a revenue stream and THEN buy the website improvements you need to go to the next level. I just build a MagentoGo store (Story of Cancer Store: http://storyofcancer.gostorego.com/ ;) and the same thing is ALMOST true for Ecom.

Between Storify, Volusion and Magento you can create a store for sweat equity + $500 (give or take). My little store has already made $130 inside of its first month so well on its way to paying for its serving costs.

The ultimate lesson of crowdfunding and crowdsourcing is DO NOTHING until it is worth the investment to do so :).
